My Car

My car has all repairs done. I replaced the fuel pump which is what was the problem. I will need to be relying more on using my scooter therefore I need a van to be able to transport the scooter. I hate to see my Buick go. It's a 1994 but still a good looking car. It's posted in my photos.
Has anyone else out there felt bad to sell a favorite car? I love the Buick, they really are a good vehicle.

Your Buick looks like a really neat car, I can understand why you hate to see it go. I've always thought of our cars are family members--well, I do, anyway--and I give them names (my kids think I'm nuts for doing this). You know what, though, my cars have never let me down. Even when I forget to top up the gas and too late (!) notice the gas gauge pointing to the red zone, I will coax and cajole my car and when it stops, it is right in front of the gas station and will just have to be pushed a short way. Never fails! My first car was a grey VW 1200 (Irving), then a bright yellow VW 1500 Brasilia we called Yellowbelle. Our car in Nigeria was a white Peugeot that my son christened Pogo. In Canada, we had a red 2 door Mazda 626 my son called Reddy (I loved that car!), and then a teal blue Honda Civic we named Wispy (because of the licence plate). Silver Wispy (Acura 1.6 el that my son drove--he took over payments when my lease period was over. This is the car that was hit head on by a drunk driver.) I had leased a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer that I fell absolutely in love with, but the gas Conker (named because of its deep rich chestnut brown colour) guzzled was driving me to the poorhouse! Anyway, just wanted to let you know you are not alone in feeling bad about having to say bye to your four-wheeled friend, that has given you long and reliable years of service!

I'm rating everyone a + it's so nice to hear so many positive remarks. I'm like you I have already cried and the car is still here. Thanks for understanding.

I'm on my third car and never got to sell my first two.
I was very sad to see my first go though, it was my first car so of course i loved it. It was a '95 Hyundai elantra.
Unfortunately that went because I was in a car accident and while the car was in the shop the shop owner decided to burn his shop down. So I lost my car completely.
Then I got a 2000 cavalier and I never really liked the car. after 4 years a fedex truck decided to make a u-turn literally right in front of me and totalled my car. Niiice.
so i'm on my 3rd car. A 2005 Mazda 3. Had it for 2 years now and I love my car dearly. It's the first one I picked out alone and loved everything about it. Of course I'll be sad when i have to see this one go, but I'm hoping this time to choose to sell it rather than see it destroyed.
so be happy it wasn't just destroyed.

Good grief you've had a bad time with vehicles!!! Thank goodness you're still here with that kind of bad luck, that's scary. I have heard the Mazda are good cars. My only concern for me is I'm all about Buick and I need to let it go because I would never get my scooter to fit in the new Buick suv's. Thank you for your comments.

I used to have an 84 Buick Century. We do become attached to our cars. A friend (who used to buy and sell cars) once said "He wasn't married to them". He bought and sold some really nice cars. I hope you find a van that you will love even more than your car. Good luck. I hate vehicle shopping.

I had my 93 saturn for 13 years so it was hard to get rid of it this past June. I do miss it because I had it for so long but am enjoying my new car very much and the advantages of my new car. I am always wondering where my saturn is now. Someone I am sure has bought it and is driving it. The thing that I regret the most is that I should have sold it to a friend instead of trading it in. I could have gotten more money than I did.

Yes so true using a vechicle as a trade in is not always the wisest thing. All too often I have seen dealerships give you what looks like a great price but what people don't realize is the cost of your new car is up by 1,000.00
to compensate for your trade in. I plan to sell private that way I know exactly what I get for the car. Thank You for your comments.

Fortunately I have never had a bad wreck. I was hit from behind once by a drunk woman. I had my truck in park and I was pulled over to the curb letting an elderly friend out.

I once had a Buick..Century, I really liked that car too. It was my first car. I love my car and it would break my heart if I had to sell it. I have a 97 Monte Carlo and it still looks and runs really good. I'm sorry you are going to sell your car since you really like it, but I hope your like your new van just as much.:)

Thank You for understanding me and yes I will hate to see it go but there's better ahead for me and I just have to convince myself of that I guess.

Nice car! I have had several cars I really hated to part with. Now that I don't drive any more, I don't have to worry about my heart getting broken!LOL! Luckily, when I WAS driving, my hubby, who works on cars and small airplanes, took care of the maintainance and all repairs. That was very handy!

Yes I agree it is handy when you can do your own mechanic work. My husband is or shall I say used to be a very good mechanic then everything when so computerised. Now you need special machines, gauges and tools and he's no longer able to do all the stuff he once did. Thanks for your comments.

Your car looks very nice. It's a shame you have to sell it. I've had a few cars that I hated to part with. Right now I own a 1992 Olds 88 Royale. I love this car, but will have to part with it soon I think. I think theframe is going, but you wouldn't know it, as there is no rust on the car. I hope you find a van that you fall in love with!!

I hate cars! I hate insurance and repairs and everything related to a car. I live in a city where everything is convenient, where all you need is two legs and a free bus pass ( incentive for university students). You might want to think about a Mopad.
