in asia, piracy is big business. and because of the fact that our currency is lower than that of the dollar, original cds, dvds, and software are really way too expensive for this part of the world. and so people rely on pirated stuff. however, we cannot blame people. such is the reality of the world today. not everybody can afford these commodities, yet people need them. if only they are not so pricey. or are socially priced, like they could sell it lower and mark it for example: for asian use only. or stuff like that. the high price of technology has allowed for high tech piracy. but can we really blame people?

i think that piracy is not just prevalent in asia but worldwide. everything is practically accessible with the use of the internet today and music and even movies can be downloaded for free today. i dont really think we can blame people who sell pirated stuff. there is a market for piracy and because most people cannot afford to buy orginals they settle for pirated stuff. it's not just a business, it is a way of life.

I think it is nonsense to discuss the topic. Every coin has tow sides. The pirated cds, dvds, maybe help many peoples who are very poor. there is justice,it must exist the evil there. At the last:The sun rises up in the east and goes down in the west ,the man should constantly strive to be stronger.

I means in different countries, different condistions, the original cd ,dvd is the same price.that's the problem. maybe you are a rich man, live in a big house, earn the big money, and you don't care what the price of original cd ,dvd is.but how about the prole?did you think the question why people bought the pirated cd,dvd?

I agree if they lower the price of offical cds, dvds, and software then people won't need to go to pirated cds, dvds, and software. That is what big business get for being greedy. Some turkeys just don't learn their lesson. Movie Industry if you don't want people to purchase pirated movies then don't charge so much to see the movie.

i dont buy pirated dvd or cd. And we cant blame people for choosing the pirated ones over the orginal. Its cheaper and since they cannot afford to buy the original why not buy the pirated one. and some pirated copies has the same quality with the original ones!

A majority of people want to buy something in possession of high quality and inexpensive. However, these are very few,so everyone would find out the intersevtion between both of quality and price, thereof a quite large part of people choose piracy because of low salary. It is not the problem of morality, but economy is the cause of piracy. Thus to enlighten users not to use piracy may not answer to the purpose.Give you an example,I have met an old man followed by a child aged only seven who dig grass root as many as possible to allay their hunger on Loess Plateau.Could you blame them irresponsible deeds(destroy circumstance)?Your answer is“No”,so is the piracy.

No I wouldn't but I would definitely say people are more inclined to go for products that come cheaper and as long as pirated ones are available most would go for them . But nothing can duplicate the quality of the original .

Like you say, because they tend to be cheap, going for the pirated stuff is a very tempting, anything that does not put too much strain on the budget isappealing. Nevertheless, in my subsconscious, I know it is a bad thing to do because it amounts to identity theft.

Uh, Bill Gates went over there and made a deal to sell copies of Windows at $3 a pop. How like NOT FAIR! There always has been a black market for things both real and fake, there always will be. It's just a fact of life. Only now this portion of the black market is called piracy. Different name, same story. ~cynically, Lynda

In my country piracy is very much like a big bussines. There are many people that sell pirated goods to make a living. I can't blame them though because there are not much disk shops from which you can buy originals and people don't trust the net shopping so most of them just buy pirated CDs. It may stop if the originals weren't so expensive.

You are right, people patronizes pirated commodities because they canot afford the high prices of original ones. If the businessman and the government regulating bodies will lowered it, then perhaps piracy business will not boom at all. People prefer pirated ones because it is the only thing they can afford to buy.

Well I think most people have viewed or downloaded something that is pirated in their lifetimes. Honestly I don't have a problem with it. Honestly, if employers treated their employees fairly and gave them a wage they could live on then it would be different. Why should the rich stay rich and poor stay poor.
