What time did you eat Thanksgiving dinner? We went to my aunt's house, and she said we would eating around 5:00-it was after 9:00 before we ate! It was good, and I enjoyed spending time with my family, but my husband was a bit peeved that we didn't eat until so late. He was already asleep on the couch before dinner was ready. By the time we ate, everybody had been eating appetizers all day, so no one was really hungry when the actual meal was ready. And after the meal, all of the desserts were passed by, since it was so late. What time did you eat your dinner?

Unfortunately here in our country (Philippines), I believe we don't have THanksgiving day. I feel kinda sad about this because I think that this kind of event keeps people's bond with each other stronger. I wonder what happens in a Thanksgiving dinner... *thinks to herself*

my wife is from the Philippines and she has had a big meal every year she has been here--now 22 years..what she does is cook a lot of traditional dishes and she starts days before the Thanksgiving meal...of course we have Turkey, Dressing, Gravy, Cranberry sauce (she makes her own from scratch..because you have to have this or it would something missing;)...then green been casserole, yams, and this always she makes a sweet potato pie,,,also this year she made a cheese caske that was very rich...we invite people from other countries..like this year we have a widow women who is from Japan and we have been friends for years...90% of the people in the US have Turkey on Thanksgiving...we ate our meal at six o'clock at night...when i got up I was so hungry that I left the house and went to White Castle (like Mc Donald's..or Jolly BEE?) and ate my lunch-breakfast of cheeseburger and fries..i did not tell my wife..as she was so busy in the kitchen working on our meal...but White Castle was the restaurant in our area that was open on this Thanksgiving Holiday in our city...
but the night before Thanksgiving the Pizza places (and we have 14 different kind of pizza restaurants) were doing great business..the night before Thanksgiving they sell about 200% more Pizza then any other time...but most Americans celebrate with a traditional turkey dinner and then they enjoy visiting or watching parades or sports on tv...it is a day of National Thanksgvinging started in 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Americna Indians sat down to Thank God for all their blessings...
This year..my asawa will go back to the Philippines from Dec 3 rd until next year May 28, 2008..then the last three weeks I will join her and fly back to the states together..but ThanksGiving is a national day of giving Thanks to God...and that is the main reason for the season...like Christ is the main reason for Christmas...but it seems we as a country of turned these holidays into a National Day for Shopping as the day after Thanksgiving (black friday) the stores open very early and sell stuff at very low prices...like a DVD for $12.00 ..lots of bargains...also the day after Christmas is huge..people either return the gifts they got or spend the money they received..it is a madhouse..which I advoid..but a lot of people enjoy staying in lines for hours to save money...

Sadly, my family did not even eat Thanksgiving dinner. Haha! We went to Shoney's for lunch, and we all stuffed ourselves on their buffet. None of us were hungry at dinner, so we had some pumpkin pie and tea. It was nice though.

At least you were ablet to be with family, and share a meal together. That's what's really important. Sounds like you had a nice time, anyway. I feel sorry for people who don't have any family, or who are away from their family on the holidays. When I was in the Marines, we always used to invite guys over who couldn't go home for the holidays, and I would fix a big meal for them. I hate for people to have to be alone on the holidays. Glad you had family to spend it with.

My family didn't do Thanksgiving this year. My boys and I had Thanksgiving Dinner with my boyfriend and his family this year. Next year I will be a big Thanksgiving Dinner, I hope. I wanted to this year, but we haven't got our new place yet.
