How do you counteract commercials?

I'm finding that all of these commercials for toys are getting our children to want things they don't need. I think it promotes greed honestly. Besides throwing the TV out the window and canceling our cable how do you stop kids from wanting everything they see?

Welcome to the I want club.I tune out my boys.And I just say no! It is just a normal thing for kids to do.And we also try teaching our kids that they don't need everything.So have them make out a list. And that way you can see want they really want.Good luck
