Is it just me or has the true spirit of Christmas been forgotten and over written by the commercial aspects and media. What do you think could/should happen to change this? I feel the effects have been devestating not only to the new generations but I notice it in my own as well! It seems to have been turned inside out into the complete opposite of what it is intended for.

Just out of curiosity, what is the "true" meaning of Christmas to you? Because if you are Christian and celebrate Christmas as the birth of christ etc then you don't have it right either ;-)

I know where your coming from but this is the day we celebrate Christs birthday. Even knowing that this is not the exact day it is the day observed for Him. Not to spoil and lavish people with things they want it's to remind os of Christ and celebrate Him and His sacrafices for us all. To do something kind for others and even give a gift to the most important people in our lives to show them they matter to us and that we are Thankful for them in our lives. Not to fill a list of demands and greeds. Just a little something to touch the hearts of those we love to show them they matter and share a part of Christs loving spirit with those around us. A time for us Christians to shine as examples and remind everyone about the reason for the season. This should be year round gesters of hope and kindness not just on Christmas. Christmas however is the day to remember Christ our Lord, the Son of God and all He has done in our lives and most of all to remind us of the Lords greatest gift to us... His son, he sacraficed for our eternal salvation! Merry CHRISTmas!

The problem is in our religion,if you are a christian 95% or probably more, that you are a catholic or a protestant. That is the dominant christian religion all over the world. The protestants are former catholics who break away, and they are correcting many catholic traditions that are against the bible, except some. The collection of money, the christmas traditions and others. If you read the bible you will notice that the birth of Jesus is a summer because of the shepherds tending their sheeps. It is impossible to be a December 25 for it is a winter, beside it is the birthdate of Sol Invictus, the old pagan religion of Rome. Why are the Protestants and other Christians avoiding to correct this grave mistake,it's simply the money. You see the Vatican has their own banking institutions,is it not hard to believe that they are partners of big bussiness, same with other christian denominations. They are not herding their flocks, they are pushing us to the cliff, for they are blind so we are also blind.

I agree with you Melly I was watching a show on the tv and it seemed that there was alot of commercials tyring to push hard liqur for the holidays.
Its like the true meaning of Chistmas and Thanksgiving is being stripped into a holiday that should be celibrated at a durnken party. As in the day of Noah.
I think it has alot to do with the fact that no body fears God anymore nor do they want God in our culture.
I think the only solution there is, is to pray to God in heaven, the Father of Jesus Christ, that this nation and the rest of the world would set their eyes on God again.
Once we do this I believe His blessing would be restored in this nation, just as He did for Isreal when they turned from their evil ways and put their eyes on God again in the Old Testament times.

Thanks for your comment, I totally agree with you. It seems this generation has a lack of teaching when it comes to the Word of God. People seem to think it's a choice as with everything else these days whether or not to believe in God and teach our children. The younger generation I've notice talk abot God very nonchalant...Maybe I'll believe but I'm just not sure, they say. Maybe I'll look into it someday. I can't believe some of the remarks I hear. They seem to get very preoccupied on the science aspect of things and they are very confused and say well that makes sense so I'll go with what this scientist says. People seem to have it backwards as if God must prove Himself to people! Your absolutely right we need to all pray to our Father in heaven for his presence to be felt and known here on Earth.
