Do you spend money on books?

Personally, I do not buy all the books I read. Most of the time, I borrow them from the library and if I really like the book and want to keep a copy, I will then get a copy from the bookshop. Where do you get most of your reading materials?

I spend money only on those books which I need to read very much. In case, for example, I want to read on computer technology. I would go to bazaar and would try to trace it on book shop or show room and would rush to purchase it. There are public libraries in our town. But those has as much fee and security measures that we do not go to libraries to seek the membership. Only source the show rooms of book shop, where we can get a good book on payment.

Especially for computer books, there are usually some stores selling them ultra cheap. Particularly if you don't mind slightly out of date ones. Usually it is ok since the concepts remain unchanged. =)

I like to keep all sorts of books too. From Children's books to fiction to nonfiction books on psychology and finance. The only problem is they now take up a lot of room space, and I have to give some away from time to time.

I also borrow booki want to read from the library. I normally only read a book once, so it's pretty pointless for me to buy one.

I have to say it must have been about 10 years since I brought a new book from a book store. I buy most of my fiction books from 2nd hand stores, as they are generally a fifth of the price of a new book. I have found that even recent releases can be found 3 or 4 months later in a second hand book store

I noticed though that when the prices get slashed to a fifth of the price of a new book, the condition of the book tend to be really bad too. I will normally sell them back to the secondhand book store if I do buy from them.

Since I read so much, it is not practical at all for me to buy everything I read. I normally borrow books from the library (and we know how good the inventory here is ^^) so I will make a trip down every 3 weeks or so. I do support my favorite authors by buying their books (if I have the budget when the book comes out hehe). =)

Yup, I do...have a modest collection of Danielle Steel books in my book cabinet, and still collecting some more. But I usually scour for books on sale so as not to spend so much...but these days, I really love to read a lot...at night after doing mylot, I retire to my room and read! I don't enjoy watching the boob tube anymore...so books are my constant companion especially at night...

I only buy books for gifts. I read alot and the library is free. I also have a network of friends who read and we swap books. If I purchase any books at all, it is at a tag sale for under a dollar.

With the amount of money I have spent throughout my life on books, I could probably have bought a house. I began buying books with my birthday and christmas money when I was 6, and have never stopped. Fantasy, romance, chicklit, crime, thriller, classics, reference, non-fiction, biographies and everything in between. I'm working overseas at the moment, so all my books are in storage - I managed to fill half of a medium sized bedroom at my sister's house with books - wall to wall, floor to ceiling. I think it might actually be a disease!

Hi, fineexistence. I prefer to buy the books. Sometimes, I borrow them from the library and from friends. But, if I saw them on a bookstore, I would immediately buy it- provided that I can afford it. I just wanted to have a copy of all the books that I read, even if I want it or not. Last month, I have 150 pocketbooks and books. Sadly, it was eaten by termites, and I am left with only 25 pocketbooks/books. I cried at that time. It is really hard to save money to buy books, just to be eaten by termites. It seems that my pocketbook is my life.

I love books and I spend money on them. But oftentimes, for me to lessen my costs in buying books, I usually wait for the booksale in the Manila which happens during August and September. :)
