It is a shame you don't say how old the dog is or what kind of property you reside in. If you are in a house, just pick her up and dump her in the garden as soon as she starts to pee. If you are in a flat or if this doesn't work, you could try 'cage training' her. Keep her in a cage, and take her out every hour. She will not foul the cage. Soon she will begin to whine when she needs to go and you can take her out only when she whines. Soon she will understand that peeing is only done outside. This method has proven success. all the best urban

6 months is very old to start house training but still the cage method will be best for your situation. To the dog, a cage is a safe place. Dogs feel safe when they sleep near the pack, which is you. Failing that a basket or cage is a safe place and will let them feel secure. Your feeling that it is a little rough is your projection of a human view of the world on the dog. Treating dogs as humans does not make them happy. all the best urban

How old is your dog? The reason why she wouldn't pee outside maybe because she's scared or nervous. You have to give it time and patience to teach her how to do it right. When puppies drink a lot of water, they usually pee within 30 minutes or so. All you have to do is to let her drink before you take her out. Take her out as many times as possible. Once she pees outside, you give her a treat. It won't be too hard. You have to be confident and patient.

The way I housebroke all our dogs was to roll up one piece of newspaper and gently tap the dog's nose after the dog pees in the house as the noise will get their attention. It won't hurt them if you are gentle. I have also smacked the newspaper on my hand and not touched the dog. Next be sure to put them outside and tell them "no" or "outside" right after the accident happens. Make sure they smell what they did also but it's not necessary to shove their nose in anything. Just enough to get a whiff of the odor. Sure hope this works for you and you don't have to get rid of the dog. It was very effective for me with 4-5 dogs over the years. I am a dog lover so I wouldn't suggest anything that would harm a dog.

Your dog is just six months old so she has time to learn how to pee outside. I watched a television program showing a dog expert helping problem dogs. One person had dogs that kept of peeing inside. So the owners were told to clean the doggy smell away then to set an alarm to go off every hour. Each time this went off they took the dogs outside and rewarded a treat for peeing there. If one of the dogs did a pee inside he or she was taken outside. I suggest doing one outside stop before you go to bed then another as soon as you go to bed. You could try letting your dog pee on newspaper then transfer this outside. This is because she will like her own scent. Good luck.
