Why people are more likely to catch a cold or flu in the winter than in the summer?

Colds and flus are more common in winter because we spend so much time indoors, with the same air circulating, and rarely getting fresh air. When a virus is in the air, more people get it because we are all breathing the same air. Also, cold lowers our immunity, making us more susceptible to infection.
