How do you shampoo your hair?

I wet the hair and do not let it get knotted up, but draw my fingers gently through it – front to back. I need only a little shampoo and put directly on to the hair and rub the shampoo all over the hair gently. As the shampoo starts to leather, I massage the scalp with the tips of fingers.
Is it the right way to wash the hair?
