Dear buddy have you ever joined a local or international Mathematics Olympics competition? Did you win any prizes? Please tell us about your experience and how you prepare for it, and the most difficult maths questions you've ever encountered.

Yes, I joined this competition during secondary school after being chosen to represent my school. There was an "audition" session to see which four students should represent the school and I was very lucky to be chosen as one of them. The competition itself was extrememly tough, and even though 3 solid hours were offered to complete 5 questions, I think I could only solve one of them. Pretty sad, and unfortunately I won nothing out of the competition except a good experience. I prepared for the competition by reading university maths textbooks but I couldn't understand anything at all...lol...and I can't remember the questions that were asked because the competition was like a decade ago. How about you, did you join Mathematics Olympics as well?

Thanks for your response, I too joined one or two of these competitions during middle school years, and when in high school, my teacher assigned me to teach the maths competition class to train younger students as school representatives. I didn't win any prize but my students did! I'm happy for them. Not like yours, the competitions in my city generally involve completing 20 to 30 questions in 1 hour. The questions are easier, obviously. You're good capable of completing one real difficult question. I heard many people submitted an empty paper ... and be depressed
