Are You Careful With How You Word Things?

What I mean is, are you careful how you put things in words in case you upset someone? Something said could be written down with perfect innocence can to others seem like a dig, a crack at sarcasm or having a dig at them?
When you respond to people did you know that a seemingly innocent word or phrase can be taken totally out of context and will lead the other person feeling hurt or upset or angry
Do you think carefully after typing out a response or discussion have I offended anyone, will this cause offence? The discussions go out worldwide and we all have different language comprehension and some words could be twisted or misconstrewd.
I know this is a family site and I have to be careful that nothing I say is rude, outrageous or will offend anyone, because believe me I don't set out to offend anyone, but to some it may come across as offensive.
Same with your private life, are you cagey about what you put and instead of putting boyfriend or girlfriend you put 'partner' so that doesn't mean your partner is male or female! Because even tho' we are more accepting nowadays there is still discrimination on the site.
What are your thoughts about how you come over to others in your writings? Or do you expect people to take you as you are, if you have unintentionally offended someone it is their understanding not yours?
Words can cut like a knife, it's how you use words, and remember this
The pen is mightier than the sword!

Hi Wolfie,
The way I am, and the way I think that sometimes people should just know tones arent audible on here. lol But no I really dont watch it too much. I probably should more than I do! Ive upset a few people on here. hehe
I put some laughter in there if Im trying to have a laugh and take things lightly, but some people just over look that. I cant help how paranoid someone is, and I myself could have taken something out of context as well. Im not perfect.
Im a bit sarcastic in real life so I tend to write how I talk! I guess me trying to be humorously sarcastic is over looked at times. I want to by myself, Im a nice person, but Im not going to be overly nice, or say things I dont mean. Thats just not my style. Sorry!

Thanks Wolfie! I try to stay away from really serious topics, but I get in my serious moods and want to say something of substance, thats where I think I p!ss people off, I can be a mean sarcastic one too! lol
I love to laugh though, and Id most rather do that then be harsh and mean with people. Im a social butterfly I love people!!

Much as I try not to offend anyone here on myLot or in everyday life, wolfie, it isn't always possible to phrase things in a way that will be acceptable to everyone. Some people's feelings are easily hurt when the intention was not there at all. I, myself, have taken offense a few times from words that were directed toward me here. Whether or not these words were intentionally aimed at hurting me I can not say for sure. This is why I have had to thicken my skin and not run off into a corner and cry over every real or imagined slight. Of course we should always be considerate of other's feelings, but everyone doesn't see it that way.

I don't know, I don't care!
I do not try to be intentionally nasty unless I mean to.
But for usual thingies, I just type what's on my mind.
If anyone would like a special filter, I am happy to be paid for this extra consideration. =)

One should be very careful with words. So do I. i am very careful while talking to others. I see to that my words do not hurt anyone, be it friends or colleagues. I try to maintain calm in difficult situations and try to avoid using harsh words that we have to repent later. Yes, it is very true. The pen is mightier than the sword. It has the greatest power.

I'm probably over careful because at times I never reply to things. (mainly change the subject) lol... I think it's something, I probably should worry less about but I hate putting my foot into things.

I try to be careful not to hurt or offend but I think I may have in the past - as you say it is so easy to overlook something you have written that could easily be taken in the wrong way! As for the rest I am fairly open and honest, I find it hard to hide things and I guess I expect people to understand where I am coming from as since I wouldn't intentionally hurt people I think they should know - naive I know but that is just me! xxx

Honey I say it truthfully and with a bit of softness..
I often will add to please not be offended because it was not my intent..
Sometime we have to say things that hurt someone to spare them in the end!
I do know sometimes my intentions are misunderstood but I will go back to the person if I can to set it straight...
I do think the important thing is to be able to own up when you have goofed..
Those word like thank you, sorry, thanks,I appolize, please, you are so welcome...can go miles in getting understood.
My love always my dear friend..

Yes, I am pretty careful with how I word things. I don't want them to get me wrong or be upset about something I said. I always choose the 'perfect' words for everthing I write to someone. I know that might sound crazy or something. Maybe I care too much about others' opinions. I just can't help it.

Really, sometimes words cut like knife. Many people have injured me with their words and attitude. Since then I have started to use my words carefully especially when I am angry or upset..

I am a extravert so I usually don't think before I speak. I do in certain situations where its important or when I'm at work.
I try to watch it when I know certain people are sensitive about things.

Ever since I started my volunteer job at a mentally disabled clinic, I have started to change my way of words and yell at people if they use demeaning terms like retard or anything of that nature when describing anything.
Its like, seeing how smart these kids are, then hearing them get talked down too because a label is on them. Same goes with African Americans and other ethnicities. We are all smart in our own ways and being smart doesn't mean always getting the right answer.
