I am having a gastric bypass after the new year. I am excited and nervous all in one. I wanted to know if any of you have ever had one, known someone who has, ect. How did you/they do? What do you think about this procedure?

My mum has had a Gastric Bypass op done. She has lost so much weight and she is so happy! I wouldn't reccommend it though if you haven't tried everything else. There can be issues with it and if you eat too much you will throw it up! not pleasant but if you're willing to control your diet, it will help majorly!

Well that is great for your mom. I know the majority of the risks and complications and it is a last resort in a way. I have some major bak problems and so the weight has to come off and stay off. I cannot risk putting weight back on, so I really think this would be my best option for that. Thanks for the response.

If it is for health reasons then I am totally for it. Good luck with the operation! I hope it goes really well for you and let me know the results!

Good luck! I hope all goes well for you with it. ;)
I actually know about 4 people who have had it done and had fantastic results and no bad reviews so far. I think it is a good procedure to have done if you need it and would probably do it myself.

When I was still single my room mate had one done. It helped her lose weight, but she had to be extremely careful of what she ate. Because her stomach was so small she had to make every bite she took count or her body became off balance and she became ill. She was also very prone to infections due to the gastric bypass.
If you go ahead with it good luck and stay safe!

Thank you. I have looked into it for the past 5 years or so. I know that everyone is affected differently..and being careful about what you put into your body is very important. Thanks for responding.
