How to improve one's English?

Hello dear yaq. Please allow me to be a little bit off the point to begin with. Ok, I am interested in one thing about your topic regarding the salary paid per month. I think that it is true that one who understands English could get a higher salary in a company. One of my students gets the same high salary in a foreign firm in Shanghai and she is happy to be working in the firm dealing in financial business, which is good for her. She could express herself very well in English, which benefits her a lot. Ok, now let's come to the point. Well, I think that it is the most important to speak English well, compared with the listening, reading and writing. I mean, of the four language skills, speaking is of a greater importance as we communicate with each other orally when we meet a foreigner. I would like to focus on spoken English. To speak English well, you need to have someone to talk to in the language. It would be better to have some foreign friends to talk to you and it would be much easier to improve your spoken English if you could have such a chance for practice. Or if you do not have the chance, do more listening exercise and practise speaking in English with your colleagues, which is also a great way though there is a little difference. Keeping a journal and writing it in English is best when you are practicing English. First, there's really a need to learn the basic in constructing sentences, thus, it's advisable to seek for an English tutor, when you get to learn the basic, try practicing through writing most of your thoughts in English. Then read lots of English literatures. If you are an internet person try to meet other people in the globe and speak in English with them. It's going to be a good practice. :)

There are so many ways one can improve the english language. Basic thing required is interest and enthusiasm to learn Secondly development of vocabulary Thirdly useage of the language with english knowing people, so that you can be corrected or appreciated for speaking good english. I usually followed this in college days: 1, Read everyday english newspaper 2. Listen to Radio BBC News (those days tv was not popular) 3. Keep a pocket dictionary and find out the meaning of difficult words 4. Use at least 10 new words every day in framing sentences and speaking to others.

You could do a lot of reading of English books ie. literature,etc. enroll into an English classes , if you 're much on the net - you could consider online tuition . Check craigslist.org and post that you need an englist teacher , or better still - go to allfreelance.com and you'll see a link to that regard.

Read a lot of books, watch english movies, listen to books in english on tape, get a tutor and study longman complete course fot toefl test and prepare for the computer and paper tests..

i think you are doing pretty good, aren't you? But I am sure you want to improve and this is one of the place where you can improve your english. Just talk to the people and I am sure you will learn a lot from other people. Also the good think is to listen songs and then translate them or watch the movies. I also like to read books and that is imrpoving my english. But the best thing is coversation.

English being a universal language is very essential.If one has the enthusiasm to learn it, its not very difficult.Keep a good dictionary.If you need to know the meanings and also that would guide you as to how you can use that particular word.Reading books or news papers will help.Watch English channels on TV.If you can get CD's or cassettes that teach English you can keep listening to them.Talking to someone who knows the language well will help alot as you will get your grammar and pronounciation corrected.If you could get a tutor it will be very good.You can pick up the language fast.Good Luck to you.
