I use firefox, its security is better than IE. before, the only time I used IE was if I was accessing a website that would only run properly on IE. But, since I found a great plugin (iE tab) which allows me to view pages in firefox using IE settings, I have not used IE for quite some time now.
A lot of people use firefox nowadays. In fact, Microsoft even made an announcement last week that people could now use IE7 even if they were using pirated windows. This shows that IE is really losing ground to competitors. Among them, the most prominent is firefox, probably because of the huge plugin support (you can find a LOT of plugins to your liking).

I think this battle is still in early days, I prefer and predominantly use Firefox as it is safer and there are certain features that I prefer to IE, I barely use IE as whenever I do I find that there are things that just cause caos in my computer, also since most malware targets IE I find that I tend to get more spyware etc when I do the scans after using IE, I also rather like Netscape which is also very good but it is having difficult time, such as Opera and other operating systems. I think that IE will always be a strong contender as long as Microsoft software is the most common operating system, as with businesses or people that have little knowledge of computing it is pre-installed and they can't (legal reasons) or don't look for alternatives, those that do or use other operating system such as any of the Linux's which normally brings Firefox generally prefer Firefox as it is in my opinion a great system. I think that the choice will always be a personal one, who know's what will be around in 10 years?

It well known that Firefox is the safer explorer than IE, but sometimes some webpages can be log in by Firefox. In these situation, I have to shift firefox to IE. Actually IE is more popular exploarer tool in these days which mean more convience it brings.

I do not think either one is going to 'win the war' because Explorer comes with every copy of Windows and that is what people get used to and unless they have a specific reason for choosing Mozilla they probably won't. Once someone is used to something they are not always inclined to change if it is working for them. In the end I think it comes down to what happens with a lot of things in life...it is all about personal preferences.
My hubs switched me over to Mozilla when we were having problems with Explorer. I like the fact that it comes with a built in spell checker...but I don't like the fact that I cannot get the number on my star rating. So each browser has pros and cons...and the fact that they are both free services I cannot see how one or the other will 'win the war' because from a marketing standpoint there aren't any dollars involved.
Welcome to Mylot and thanks for the friend request...I accepted it and am sure we'll chat more!
Cheers,

I think mozilla is more virus and worm protected. But internet explorer is nice with many features. Most local languages are not supported by mozilla. There are few websites that not looking nice with mozilla but explorer suit those easily. Lastly, growing use of mozilla worldwide very fast than explorer
