How would you paint your nails?

I was just thinking today about my nails. I love the french manicure, I think it is beautiful! I thought about having my nails done at the shop but I'm just a country girl, raising 2 kids and don't get out much, so, I wondered how fake they would look on me because I'm pretty plain. Then, I thought, I wear make-up, in fact, I don't go anywhere without "my face" on. So, if I could afford it, I'd like to have my nails done professionally, I think they look great!

I used to always paint my nails dark purple, and redo them when it was more than 50% chipped off. I took it off for a job interview two weeks ago and haven't put any on since. Once I painted them neon pink with black dots but once it chipped off I never bothered with it again.

I've always done my nails myself and love the French Manicure look. I never could get into the nail art thing because it looks so phony to me.
