A Canine Christmas
It’s the day before Christmas, and all through the house
The puppies are squeaking an old rubber mouse.
The wreath which had cheerfully hung on the door
Is scattered in pieces all over the floor.
The stockings so lovingly hung, hanging in rows,
Now boast a hole in each of the toes.
The tree was subjected to bright eyed whims,
And now, although splendid, is missing some limbs.
I catch them and hold them; Be good I insist,
They lick me, then run off to see what they’ve missed.
And now, as I watch, the thought comes to me,
That theirs is the spirit, that Christmas should be.
Should children and puppies, yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy that should come with this day?Could they bring the message, that’s written above,
And tell us that, most of all, Christmas is Love!

Hi Deb that was so cute I loved it. I have 2 cats now and they love Christmas too. I used to have a dog a black lab but she is no longer with us. I loved her so much. She even had puppies and I helped her. I found homes for all of them. They were so cute. She also loved Christmas morning she would tear open her toys.LOL Animals really do show us happieness.

I love it, that poem is so cute. I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and for the most part she is really good with the Christmas decorations. She has her own stocking that says 'Dear Santa, I can explain,,," lol

She is pretty, looks like a chocolate lab. My guys are good guys...they do major jobs at home, like holding the the beds my sleeping on them and keeping me warm in the winter.
