Absolute Faith?

Most all of us have faith in something or someone-I mean faith so strong that we would entrust our lives to. What are whom do you place absolute faith in? Some people believe that what goes around comes around. I don't always agree with this. Some people believe that their s/o will always be there in their time of need. I don't always agree with that one either. Some have blind trust in their doctors or lawyers. For some it is their minister. It used to be that you could always trust your friendly neighborhood policeman. Due to changes in society and morals, many of those we once placed our trust in are found to be undeserving of that trust. I would like to know why you feel as you do.

I guess I have faith in most people, things and systems. I can only have absolute faith in two things and that is myself and The Infinite. I have faith in the Universe (The Infinite) that it is as it is and that in the grand scheme of things all will be well. But the bigger question might be what is the difference between faith and trust? Hey, that might make a good discussion topic. I think there is a difference. Due to changes in society and morals...just who decides my moral character? Society? NO WAY. I make that decision based on my beliefs and values.

That's an interesting take on the discussion, sigma, as I had a problem trying to sort it out myself. I believe that if you have faith then you must also trust.

I have faith in fate. Everything will happen the exact way the G-ds want it to happen It isn't fair ,but it is what they want.I would trust my lawyer more than I would my doctor. My lawyer wants to win, my doctor may or may not care.I would only trust that my clergy believes what he says about my religion.I would never trust the police. They can be bought.

FYI, sara, so can your doctor or lawyer be bought. It happens all the time. I guess you can tell I have very little faith in humanity.

I place my faith and trust in God. I have belived in God since childhood. I know when I am in trouble or have problems saying a prayer to God does a world of good to me. I talk to others such as friends and family but the one I have the most faith in is God.

You are right to place your faith in God, Shaun, for I think He is the only one who will never let you down.

i believe in pinky. My imaginary girlfriend. She seems like a tiny wimpy little girl, but she COULD hurt you. I know. And she is protecting me. It makes me feel safe. SHe is one of my best protectors, and I am one hers, if she knows it or not.

see i have a problem with that, because i do have faith in everyone. and i cant beleve they would do me wrong or lie to me or whatever if they have never given me a reason.. i know it puts me in bad situations, but that is just me and i cant just meet someone and be like. oh your a liar! how do u know if they have never given you a reason to think that?
i place my trust in god,i know he will always be there for me in time of need now if he might never givew you what u pray for because he gives you what is in his will...
if you ask for him to help you find the money to pay your rent so you dont get kicked out.. it might be in his will for you to meet the love of your life. but inorder for you to do that, you wil have to get kicked out and find another place, because that other place is were you will meet this match...that was just an exsample by the way.lol.
Now ministers im kinda scared to beleive they are telling me the truth because in my faith i am new, and i dont know everything so how do i know if he is telling me the right way?...i dont wanna be misled and start beleiveing in the wrong thing or think its okay to do this thing when really its not..god wrath is way bigger then what i would endure from anyone else on this earth..

The way is there for you to find, x, but you have to seek it. I'm afraid that you will be disappointed much in life if you really trust in everyone like you say. Not all people are even deserving of your trust. Think about it.

The only people I can trust is my family and a few very close friends. I used to trust everyone around me but they just disappointed me again and again. Back in college when me and another 5 students shared a room, I learned that people can tell lies in order to get the things they want. I was really sad when I trusted someone so much and they lied to me. So now I find it hard to believe in everthing a person says. I have to assume that some of his words are just made up for some purpose. I know that's not fair to them but I kinda have to tell myself not fall for them. But I believe there are some really honest and good people. It takes time to find them.

I think you should have absolute faith in no one, dollcarole. God is the only one you can really trust.

i've always believed in the golden rule, do not do unto others what you don't want to unto you. i always think of this whenever i'm faced with a situation which calls for some major act. i always weigh the circumstances first, if it would be good for me or will i hurt someone and if in the future it may affect me. but i also admit that not every time that i can follow this rule. i know i am not perfect and i have flaws as a human which makes me disobey this rule sometimes, but at least i know in myself that as much as possible i try to follow this just to be a good person and avoid hurting people. ^__^

I guess when it comes right down to it I have absolute faith in my family and a few select friends! That faith has been tested quite a bit recently and they haven't let me down; I guess I should say we haven't let each other down. I've always believed that if you don't have your family you don't have anything!

Too bad all families are not like yours, anniepa. There are some members of my family I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw.
