Grrr. I'm taking an Econ class online in my senior year [high school] &&& I hate it! I cannot put the material in my head! When I try to read it, it goes in one ear and out the other. It simply does not interest me. What in the world is a stock quote anyway?

In my high school, economics was among my favorite classes. I found it more interesting than science, math and english. I've always been fascinated with how human organization went and the dynamics in between human interactions and social institutions. That's why I've taken sociology.
But in college, I found that economics, though still very interesting, is not really my calling. The discipline is too harsh, too cold, concerned mainly with the most productive and efficient way of increasing profit, neglecting a lot of social factors. Though important, I realized that it is not adequate solution to social ills.
I still like economics though. But with regards to the ideology, I have a lot of misgivings.
I think one way to help you understand the logic of economics is to look at case studies provided by some text books that exemplify the phenomena being explained. Case studies are not just informative, they are also entertaining reads.
