There is a gorgeous Australian Cattle dog at Heard County Animal Control in Franklin Georgia. The staff really cares about the dogs, but it is still the "county pound" and NOT a nokill shelter so this sweetheart needs a home quickly. Out of area adoptions are welcome - and licensed rescues are also welcome. I have tried to upload a photo of her. If anyone is interested, call 706-675-3570 and ask for Kaylene.

Unfortunately this is all too common. Millions of dogs and cats are put down each year in the U.S. because people dump them. It is really hard to watch. I foster for three rescue groups in my area. We have not been without a dog (and many times more than one) since we started fostering in February. It is like a revolving door. I wish people would really spread the word about spay/ neuter and about making a commitment to their pets!

I volunteer contacting rescues and posting dogs on the internet for a couple small shelters that don't get the foot traffic to save enough lives. Sometimes it helps, but sometimes it gets frustrating with all of the people who refuse to spay. Thank you so much for volunteering for rescue - what you do makes a huge difference in the world.

Thank you, hounds. The same thanks goes to you. Could you imagine if everyone volunteered even one hour a month the difference that rescue could make? Okay, I live in a dream world but it would be pretty cool!
