I have to say... we tried a DVR for awhile and just found it to not be worth the money it was costing for renting it. We just plain don't watch enough T.V. There were definite benefits to it, and I do miss it at times. As for being the greatest invention since the wheel, I have to disagree. I think the programable coffee maker needs to be on the top of that list.

Agree to disagree, I cannot stand the taste or smell of coffee

We can definitely agree to disagree. I have to admit that I love the smell of coffee, but I have to doctor it up like crazy to drink it. I just like the programmable maker so I don't have to wake up and remember to start the coffee for my husband. He's one of those guys that take two or three cups to wake up in the morning.

DVRs are cool. Even if you don't watch a lot of TV, it helps you catch the TV you like to watch. In my house, my wife watches more TV than I do, but I would still like it when she recorded a show I wanted to watch but just don't always get around to.

Plus it saves you time, you can watch a 30 minute show in 20 minutes when you fast forward through the intro and commercials
