What motivates you to exercise?

I haven't been on a serious exercise routine in many years. I rollerblade here and here and try to do some stuff on my own but nothing at all lately. What did motivate me before was wanting my body to look a certain way and being pleased when I got to that point. The health factor motivates me too. I hate the thought of getting old so exercising can be a way for me to stay as young as I can.

I think what motivates me now that exercises are not for weight loosing but rather energy sustaining and toning, is that if something hurts more than it should after a regular day i.e. like shoulders from carrying laundry up and down or stooping to clean or stretching to dust above the ceiling and window edge--if I hurt way too much than it is because I did not exercise enough bringing in oxygen to enrich my aching body. Aches and pains are much less when I have a sufficient amount of oxygen pumping through the blood.

The knowledge that I'll feel better, look better and have more energy if I do it. I love to swim so in the summer I take my grandkids to our local pool and they provide me with lots of motivation! They get me playing water games with the kids and, at 55, I find myself feeling like a kid myself. Listening to music and having others to exercise with me also helps motivate me. You have the right idea, keeping fit does also help keep you young!

Hi,
First thing that encourages me to be fit and active is my son. I want to be active and have to do exercise of some sort to be active. I want to watch him grow and that motivates me to do the exercise. Secondly, a good music video, prompts me to start my exercise. My hubby too encourages me to be active.
Be active and be happy!

What motivates me to exercise is the feeling of not being able to move comfortably on a regular day-to-day basis. My mom has arthritis and I am showing some major symptoms of it. I started out with Yoga and felt GREAT when I was doing it regularly. Then something threw me off schedule with that, so I've joined a gym to try to motivate myself to go instead of doing it in my home. So far that has worked, as I hate to throw money away. I would also like to lose some weight, so that is a motivator, too. Just being able to move, though, is the biggie.

Working out should be a part of everyone's everyday routine or at least 5 days a week. It is great to boost your mood, relieve stress and keep you healthy. I go at least 5 days a week, and nothing other than the fact of the natural high motivates me. It is nice to see your body change, but you need to do it for overall health.
