I have been home schooling my daughter for about a month now. We had a lot of problems with the public school, and thought this would be the best situation for her. I have enjoyed it so far. I am using a program called k12 and it is lid out well for parents and students. I just wondered how many of you out there also homeschool or know someone who does..and what do you think about it?

Well where do you live? If you live in the US the program I use I love. They send you everything you need to do it. Even a new computer and all the materials. So it is very nice. If you want to know more just send me a message and I will see what I can do to help you.

I know someone who does this. She is Sarah Geronimo. She is a very popular singer, TV actress and host in the Philippines. She does homeschooling due to her very hectic schedule in the entertainment realm. In my case, I like homeschooling too. For one, education is a vital need for all people. It is our only resource in the world of business, commerce, and elsewhere.

Yes homeschooling is very nice, especially because you do it on your own terms and schedule. I love it because my child has a lot of appointments that she would have otherwise had to miss school for. Now she just does her school work thoughout the day, it doesnt matter if it is 7 p.m. :)

My best friend was home schooled, and I have to say she is one of the most intelligent people I know.

My eldest was home schooled from 7th grade through graduation (wish I had started sooner!). My daughter was home schooled for 4-6th, but honestly does better in a more formal setting than hs-ing allows. She's now back in school & a Freshman in High School. My younger son has always been home schooled, he'd be in Kindergarten or 1st grade if he went to public school. And the baby (just 2 months old) will more than likely be home schooled right from the start. Although it didn't work out best for my daughter, most children thrive home schooling. I love it. Our son is able to spend as much time as needed to grasp a new concept. He's able to put more time into subjects & hobbies that he loves. And we can move onto a new subject, project, etc whenever we feel like it.

My in-laws have finished homeschooling four of their nine kids, while the other five are still in homeschooling. There are a lot of advantages to homeschooling. It is true that I think that most of the kids who are homeschooled from the beginning and don't participate in a lot of other activities do need help with socialization. My in-laws don't do much outside the house. My mother-in-law feels they get plenty of socialization because there are so many of them, but most of the kids are quiet and shy and not sure what to do in social situations.
I will homeschool our son when he gets old enough. Right now he is 17 months old. I am looking forward to it and feel that for the most part homeschooling offers a lot of options that can make things much better for students. There is also the oppertunity to learn more, better, and faster in the home. Good Luck!

Yes it is a charter school. I also use my own materials in with it, which I added to her lesson plans. So I guess it is a little bit of both. Since I have been doing this for over a year, I am aware of where the funding comes from, and how it is run. But the basis of this is teaching your child at home. The materials are sent to you, but as the parent you still have to be responsible to make sure that the child does the work. There a very few difference. Thanks for your input.

I know someone who did homeschool her children. She has the youngest still at home, but the older girls are out working and one of them is married. We have a church school, but it seemed that they were afraid that some of the children were a bit too boisterous. I do not know the reasons and it could be the tuition. Anyway the public school was out of the question. They did move to a farm, and continued home schooling. I would with what is going on in public school nowadays, either you put your children in a good Christian private school or you homeschool. At least, there the child can go to his or her potential instead of being kept back with the slow learners and forced to learn about ungodly lifestyles.
