Sometimes I feel very guilty even spending one dollar on myself. I don't know when I last had my hair dye done or a nice hair trim. And, forget about a manicure or pedicure. Sometimes I feel guilty just buying nail polish, as if I'm taking away money from the family.
What's a beauty queen to do? A woman shouldn't have to live without the basics of life, like nail polish and hair dye. My spouse constantly encourages me to spend money on things that I want. Whenever I see a good deal on makeup online and show it to him, he practically hands me the credit card. But, I can't bring myself to spend money. I wasn't always this way. Before I had a baby, I spent tons of money on beauty care products and clothing and just anything I wanted. Not so anymore. I wish that I could go back to the old way of feeling self indulgent. I'm not so happy with the new frugal me.
Do you ever feel guilty when you spend money on yourself? Do things ever change?

No I dont feel guilty about spending money on myself. I dont always get to put myself first but I make sure that I have what I need. I am a makeup girl and so it is a priority that I have those items. I just know how I feel when I dont and I dont like feeling "blue". So I just do what I need to do to make sure everyone gets what they need. I try to be sensible when it comes to money, sales, ect. :)

I was a makeup girl for years, until my skin began to break out. Now I use mineral makeup whenever I can. And, I love it. It lasts so long. But, I rarely buy it. It's my number one indulgence. That and lotions and scents. I love those too. I love clearance sales too. It's nice when you can get your favorite stuff for less than full price, don't you think?

I must admit that I can't really spend much for myself. Now that I have a family to work for, I even forget myself sometimes because I usually prioritize the needs of my other family members. This is really usual for people who want the best for their family.

Like? Well.. yes .. I do. But do I do it? Not really LOL
LIke you there are many things that have stayed behind. Proper hair cut.. oh manicure and pedicure..... ages!!!!
MY husband also encourages me to spend some more money on myself but I can't do it while there are so many things that are needed and while we have so many bills behind.
I think that sometimes maybe I overdo it. After all I might not get my haircut and then I will get my daughter to go and have her hair done for that school concert or the special party...
Lately I have been trying to think a bit more about myself, but it's not coming out too good because them I feel guilty that I spent the money on myself LOL
But it's a start:)

Hello beauty queen. I love to spend money on myself and my family as well. If I go out somewhere, I would always like to buy something for them, most of which are garments to them as gifts.

Yes, most of my indulgences and money are spent on my child and family as well. My little girl asks for presents and gifts daily and I cannot turn her down. She is always so impressed at the tiniest gift and so appreciative. What loving parent could say no to that? Be well and thanks for dropping by to join the conversation.

If I made money by myself and made lots of them. I don't feel guity when I use the money on myself.
But the money from my parrents, I use some on myself, I feel so guilty and asham.
My parrents check my bank account, and said to me 'you are too frugal'. I told them, I don't know, I don't know what is bought! They laughed at me.

I am very careful in spending money on myself. I freely spend money for my wife and children, but whenever I try to spend on myself I am taken aback.

I can't really afford to spend much money on myself these days so it was a lovely treat for me to get my hair done last week. I was given the money as a birthday present with orders to get my hair done and spend it on myself and I really am glad I did.

When there is no need, I love to spend on myself. If I require new clothing or new shoes, I spend the money accordingly. On my personal make up etc., I do not feel like spending much.

I do if there's a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary or Christmas coming up, because I worry sometimes that I won't have enough to get the gifts that everyone deserves.
Just the other day I was in the mall and saw a shirt that I fell in love with, it was me to a T. I didn't buy it though, because I knew I wouldn't be able to enjoy it or share my great buy with my friends and family worrying that in a month or so they'd wonder why 'she bought that great shirt for herself, and I only got a cheap ___ for Christmas'.
Not that I think most of my family would be like that, but I have a few friends that would be pissed off that I got something nice for myself and only got them a box of chocolates.
After Christmas though, I'm home-free until April! :)

Same here beauty queen. Responsibilities & responsibilities. Gone are the carefree days of youth when I had no qualms about spending whatever I earned on myself. Now my son gets the first priority then comes the family needs, then I want to save something for the festive seasons or maybe as gifts to someone on some occasion, then to splurge on something new for the home and the list is endless. Every month I think of spending something on a new dress or maybe a fashionable or costly haircut (like some girls in my office) or just to hang out at the marketplace and buy whatever I want or lunch wherever I want to, but it never happens. Yes I am growing old and frugal and I know that very soon that day will come when I will no longer need to dress attractively, I will be an old hag counting my days at home. Even then, I just cant bring myself to spend on me.

Oh I hate spending money on myself! I've never really cared to spend money on myself, even when I was younger. I have always felt guilty if it was other than for necessities such as food and shelter.
Would you believe I felt guilty for buying the bathing suit that I'm wearing in my avatar? It cost a whole $13.00 plus tax at Wal-Mart. But my husband insisted that I buy a bathing suit this past summer so I bought one of the cheapest I could find.
And don't get me started with dying hair. I haven't starting dying my hair yet. I'm trying to hold off on buying any dye for as long as I can (even though I have several gray hairs on my head :P) as I don't want to bother with the expense.
My husband trims/cuts my hair. I don't wear makeup, nor have I ever gotten a manicure or pedicure. I haven't worn nail polish in ages and when I did I bought the 'wet 'n wild' brand for 99 cents and used it sparingly.
I have a jacket my mom bought for me when I was in junior high. I just don't have the heart to get rid of it as it was rather expensive. It's still in pretty good shape for being 20 years old!
Yep, as you can probably see, I hate spending money on myself.

No, i dont feel guilty at all, its my hard earned money. When I was younger like you all I wanted to do is to buy this and that asking money from my parents or brothers and sisters. Even now I usually buy things for myself but in moderation. I take care of my home needs, my family needs, then my personal needs. But I do buy things that I really need, I buy new shoes and clothes, new bags, new essential things but not that often. Time changes really.

for me yeah i like it but i dont feel guilty because since when i started working all my salary goes to my family so i think its not bad if sometimes i used the money i earned for myself and give myself a little treat like shopping, parlor and massage parlor:-)
