A beautiful smile, I think is the most important. A smile come from his or her deep heart, but not something artificial..

I've been in customer service for years.
The first thing which I think is very important is to greet the customer...a little hello or hi, how are you today, type stuff.
Ask if they need help, or are you looking for anything in particular?.....If they are just looking, I'm not a pusher nor am I aggressive...I hate that!, like some car salesmen, ugh.
If they need help, I'm right there to help them. If they are wanting a particular item, "I take them to it and show them where it is". I don't just give them directions on where they will find the product or item, like, oh, it's just down this aisle, turn left, turn left again, go the the middle, and it should be on the right hand side, HAHAHAHAHA!
When I take them to the item, I ask them if they need any further assistance, if no, I leave and stay away but not too far away just in case. If they say yes, I help them.
I've never worked in a restaurant but I like friendly people when I'm there. Not someone who hates their job, if you do, move on. I like when you are waited on within five minutes, your order is hot when it comes and is the correct order, if I need extra cream they bring it along with my coffee, not ten minutes later.......If I need ketchup, it's brought back quickly....you know, just normal service.
I haven't really had much trouble in restaurants, and have always left a 20% tip regardless of service because I know this is what they live on. Sometimes people have a really bad, or sad day, personal problems, that you don't know about, so I try to understand that. We've all been in that position one time or another.......take care!
