I have heard Tool's latest album, i think its very good. But not on par with the 2 that came before (Aenima and Lateralus). This album is just as well played and reharsed as the ones i was saying. Every member of the band still is very inspired and most songs on the album are really of a great great quality. Then why i say i think it isnt on par with Aenima or with Lateralus? Reason is that i think this last one just repeates what Tool have already done in the past without adding anithing new. Aenima was an extraordinarily original piece of work, Lateralu was the consolidation of that kind og sound, brought even forward at a higher level and more refined than Aenima was. This can be said of 10000 days a very good album overall but in wich there's no step forward, the sound just restates Lateralus standards, even the artwork, while good is pretty autoreferential. I used to think that Tool could be the first new great band in modern rock, some band that was going to be idolized even 20-30 years from now like it has happened to Pink Floyd or Genesis. Right now for the reasons i was saying i feel like i'm not sure if this will be the case, i guess that i was only expecting too much. After all if any band does a self referential album its ok, but Tool doing so just feels wrong. Any thought welcome, if you dislike Tool dont be disrespectful pls. cya
