Dr. Phil a little one sided in Palestinian guy episode?

Did anyone else see this saga on Dr. Phil (I watch way too much tv). There is some 16 year old girl that somehow fools her parents and flies to Jordan to meet her Palestinian myspace boyfriend. 2 years later her mom is shocked that when she turns 18 she suddenly flies over there again. While I do agree it was a bad situation and Dr. Phil did the right thing helping her get back home, but I felt like he was extremely one sided. He portrayed this Palestinian as an abusive, dangerous individual, which he definitely was abusive, not sure how dangerous. If he was such a bad guy he could have ripped up her passport. I also think Dr. Phil ignored the fact that in arab countries women are treated like crap. He was probably doing what he thought he was supposed to do as a man over there. On the other side why was there no accountability on the family? How does a 16 year old board a plane to Jordan after 9/11? How does the mom not know the next 2 years that she is chatting/talking to him constantly on the computer and cell phone respectively. There were some big holes on their side but Dr. Phil seemed to not even want to explore that side of it. Yes he did a good thing getting a young, naive girl out of a terrible situation. But was he being fair to all sides? I would have preferred a little accountability on the girl's family too.

I agree it seemed to me that the Palestinian guy's family was the more normal. There was something wrong with that girl's family to drive her to do all she did. The guy's family looked totally normal and like good people. Dr. Phil is usually helpful but in this case he totally missed it. I think he thought the girl was in grave danger when she wasn't.

I have watch only little bit of it, but the Palestinian boy look like someone I would not want for my daughter to meet with. Also you are right I am sure there was a family fault too, how come they didn't know what their daughter is doing for two years and I don't understand she fly there to see him(if I understand it right) where she got money for it? Parents didn't care where their daughter go? Who she talk to on the phone?

Yeah I guess she told them she was visiting a friend in Michigan or Canada, but a 16 year old girl maybe 100 pounds traveling alone on a bus, then flying? I think the Palestinian guy paid for the flights (it looked like his family had some money). To me its obvious she was still in contact w/ the guy but the mom didn't do a thing about it. I had a feeling too that something behind the scenes happened before that show. Like maybe the girl gets a car if she breaks up w/ the guy on Dr. Phil? I thought it was ironic too, his family looked pretty normal and nice. Nice house w/ money, but too bad for the location (I wonder how they try to sell real estate in places like the Gaza strip).

I saw the show and thought the guy was an arrogant little sh*i*t and deserved what he got.

I have not seen the program but I like dr. phil. In general trust me it is easy to do all those things. Board a plane its a joke I traveled a lot when I was under 18 I had never been asked if I have perental concent or whatever (ok so I was 14 and older not like I was a baby). As for computers now days its almost imposible to know what your kids are doing (and they are smart they can hide thing really good)
