Yesterday Ms Dionne Warwick performed Live in one of the leading hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was a dinner n show. Tickets were sold at RM1000, RM3000, RM5000. Ever since I was a teenager, I've always been a fan of Ms D.Warwick. So, my dear hubby insist on buying me a ticket of RM1000 so tht I cld enjoy myself. But my conscience tells me I shd not spend money for just 1 night of entertainment for myself alone. Imagine the ticket price is dollar for dollar. Wld you attend the dinner n show if your spouse pay for the ticket???

I have read and reread your discussion and before answering your question I would like to know whether your husband actually did buy you the ticket or if this question is hypothetical, as I would phrase my response differently knowing that you attended the performance than if I knew you followed your conscience instead. Please clarify if you wish to.

Hi drannhh. This is not a hypothetical question. My hubby actually offered me 6 times (just in case if I changed my mind. Each time I say NO thank you. On the 6th time my NO was split second after his offer. I was a little irritated with him cos he asked me so many times. When the actual day of her performance arrive, I was not regretting at all.

I think the fact that the shows are now wanting around $100 or more is too much. There are a few show's I'd like to see, but I was so shocked at the price of the tickets its totally turned me off!

No way would I pay that much to see anyone, I think this is a perfect example of superstars forgetting their real fans, that would be way out of the range for most of the people who really made her, most of the people who will be there are people also with a lot of money who just want to be seen at the big gig....

Hi lilaclady. M not sure if the organisers are making tons of $$ or Ms DW. But I think you might hv a point by saying some people just wanna be seen with VIPs.

[ Dionne Warwick ] - [http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1341032.aspx]- [Dionne Warwick Live......tickets, min $1000 each.] - [mushroomLady - (105)]
Hi & Hello, mushroomLady. I will appreciatively and proudly attend the dinner and show if my hubby pay for the ticket, and it is my investment for at least I must get five (5) new prestigious friends in that dinner for my business friendship and networking. That is my prime objective and the show for Dionne Warwick will be my secondary objective. My husband always told me that way and he has a lot of proves for every year he attended Formula 1 racing circuit event in Sepang for every April each year. He never failed with his new 5 foreign friends (at least) for every event where he purposely bought MYR1,000/ticket for his "TOPAZE SEAT". An event is an excitement, actually. But the after event connections and networkings will make us WORTH IT for attending that paid event. Happy Postings and Earnings, mushroomLady. HAPPY DAPPY.

Hi goodsign.. Hmm... when my hubby first offered me a ticket, networking crossed my mind. But then on second thoughts, I would rather enjoy the show than talk. And I would not like to be disturbed if am watching live shows. Will be going for Kitaro Live this Friday. Our second time for Kitaro's concert. At least the tickets are reasonable.

No, I wouldn't let my hubby pay that kind of money for one night of entertainment. I love her as well, but it's not worth that kind of money, not unless we were millionaires. I have a hard time believing that it would cost that much to see anyone perform. I mean, how many tickets could they possibly sell? How many people have that much money to spend on entertainment?

My conscience would not let my hubby pay $1,000 to go see any kind of show, (dinner included or not), no matter who was performing. I think some of these "superstars" have lost sight of their beginnings, and fogotten about the millions of fans who helped them to become successful. Without their support over the years, many would'nt be superstars today - it's only because of their loyal fans; many of those fans would love to see Ms Warwick, but couldn't afford it. What about them? So, did you attend the dinner and show?

Hi abbey! No I did not attend the show. I will definetly feel guilty if I did. M not sure if the Superstar is asking for high fee or the Organisers are making tons. Thx for your response.

Think of it as a sweet Christmas gift. It is very nice to be treated to special things every now and then. Life is too short to deprive yourself of the things that you enjoy. I say go for it.

Ugh...ugh.. no can do. For me, 1 grand is too much to spend just for 1 person, for entertainment. What makes me happy is the thought tht counts. He offered me 6 times! M sure some people will think I am stupid...ah..never mind...as long as my conscience is clear. And the man loves me more than enough! hee...hee..

well... if our income is Rm-25-Thousand per month - i will jump at the opportunity of seeing Ms.Warwick live in Concert - i might even buy the most expensive ticket and take along all my five children... but reality check - my husband and i dont make that much money... and eventhough i luv ms.warwick and her niece ms.huston like crazy.... Rm 1000 for a concert is just wayyyyy over my budget. That money could easily be used for my car installments, PLUS monthly groceries. i guess... i just have to settle to listening to her 'sing to me' on the CDs...

Hi mushroomLady! I do admire Ms Dionne Warwick too. I used to listen to her music all the time because my mother just love her voice and so do i. I think if my husband will treat me to a dinner show like that, I will watch it and appreciate the loving gesture of my hubsand but like you, my conscience will feel otherwise. Too much money to spend for a single night of pleasure which i can do so much on necessary things doesn't really sit well on my practical sense. Take care and have a nice day. :)
