Does Anyone Still Watch Daytime Soap Operas?

I have never got into the whole daytime soap operas. They just seem boring to me, I wonder how some people become so addicted to them. They all seem like the bad thing with some bad acting thrown in. Well I used to watch The Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives but found them to be boring. I mean The young and the restless is centered around rich people and who wants to watch rich people and their problems. Bold and the Beautiful centers around some 40 year old woman who sleeps around with different men and yet every guy lusts after her. Then Days of Our Lives just got ridiculous with its horrible writing. I watch General Hospital occasionally but not very often. It has way too much violence, centers around the same boring characters and lacks romance and adventure. Now at days they are playing favorites with certain actors and killing off those who have been on the shows for years. A total waste. I predict that soon the world of soaps will come to an end and I for one will not miss them.

I just posted a topic asking who watched the soaps and from the responses I received there are still quite a few of us who do. Days of Our Lives seems to be the front runner in those who commented. My hubby and I watch The Young and the Restless, Bold and Beautiful and All My Children. We have noticed the quality of writing and story lines varies at times too. Raia

I watch Days of Our Lives, and belive me you are not alone with the recycled storylines. Days seems to be the best at re-writing history, and doing the same thing over and over again, sometimes with different characters and sometimes not. I think sometimes the writers get stuck on what to do next so they just go with an old standby that worked for them at the time, and when they do this they do not take their viewers into consideration.
