Most of us rant and rave why our prayers are not answered. When we are desperate we literally beg and plead with God.When things dont work out like we would like it to we are angry.Recently I came across this beautiful prayer which moved me.After reading this I came to terms with God's ways. There is a power above guiding us and taking care of us.I felt comforted.I wanted to share it with my friends here on mylot.
I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong
I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve
I asked for prosperity and God gave me brain and brawn to work
I asked for courage and God gave me danger to overcome
I asked for love and God gave me the troubled people to help
I asked for favours and God gave me opportunities
I recieved nothing I wanted
I recieved everything I needed.
Take life sportively. The saga continues with passion for excellence and compassion for human values. Please let me have your views on this.

Thank you for sharing this prayer, which I find very meaningful and thought-provoking. If you reflect on what it says, it really tells you about how God works in our lives. I fervently believe in the power of prayer. Often though, people pray asking God to give them what they want. They see things from their own perspective, and so ask for things that they desire for their situation. When their prayers are not answered, they feel that God is not hearing or does not answer prayers. God sometimes work in mysterious ways we least expect. But if we trust God and believe that He is overall in control, we can pray with confidence knowing that whatever we ask according to His will for our lives (and not what we desire for ourselves), He hears us and will answer our prayers (1 John 5:14).

It is always interesting to see how God works...never in our time, but in His. Even though when we go through something it seems we may be alone, a lot of times when we look back at the situation...you know we could not have gotten through it without Him. I know that He is always there, and even though I sometimes like to question His plan, I just need to keep my mouth shut and let Him do His thing. Poems like these are so neat. I would encourage you to look up the lyrics to Thief by Third Day. Blessing to you. :)

Prayers are powerful and sometimes without knowing we get the answers in the most convenient time that God wants us to recognize it. One thing I know is that instead of asking, it is also good to recognize the blessings that God has given us. Sometimes we concentrate on what we want to happen and like the ending of the prayer, God gives everything that we need! Peace to you!

Hi!fortunebee
Thanks for sharing your views.I am so happy I started this discussion as I find so many of you pouring in your thoughts.Yes, instead of asking if we appreciate the blessings we have I guess we will be at peace with ourselves. We should not take anything for granted.God Bless.

hi biggerb.thanks a lot for sharing such a bautiful prayer.its really touched me and showed me as to how god listens to our prayer.normally when ask for strength and he gives us problems then we get disappointed, but after the problem is solved we realise what we have actually gained out of this.god is god,we human beings can never understand his blessings.

That is why I don’t pray as a habit or regularly. Almost everybody I know asks for something or the other while praying. Even if it is something as innocent as asking God to keep everybody in the family happy and healthy. My point is there should never be an asking relation with God. Seldom do we pray selflessly and then when our expectations are not fulfilled, we ill-mouth God and his intentions.

Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed it.
It is true that when we don't get what we ask of God in prayer we either become angry, or wonder why. Did we do something wrong? Did God not hear us?
What we need to remember is that God loves us and knows what is best for us. He always hears our prayers. And He always does what is best. Sometimes what is best is not what we ask for.

Hi!isiah
I am so happy that you enjoyed it.As you rightly said he knows what is best for us.When something goes wrong if we can tell ourselves this is God's way, he will pull us through this phase. Then we may not face dejection which leads us to feel depressed. This comfort will see us through our troubles.God Bless.

Wow, thank you for sharing it with us. I see myself knocking and then banging on Heaven's door too. And yes when it doesn't work out my way I do get very frustrated and angry. My hubby has helped me get back to the right path and be thankful and grateful for all of GOD blessings. God bless.
