A new virus out that disables your antivirus protection

Has anyone heard of any virus or worm out there that is wiggling it's way into computers and disabling your antivirus? I have had it happen to me and my friend who is in another city close by says the same thing has happened to her.
My computer ended up crashing because besides diabling my antivirus, it disabled my system restore, my ability to use my restore cd. etc.
I couldnt use any of my know how to restore the computer as this virus or whatever it was had taken over my computer.
Has anyone else noticed this new bug? Also it places a little yellow blinking triangel on your bar at the bottom that says warning ..and tells you to click link to fix your computer..I didnt click this but that little blinking triangle itself was a setup for the finishing touch on your computer.

I have not heard about this virus but my roomates computer just went down and now damaged the power supply and the mother board. I dont know whats the real caus e of it but Im just hoping its not the virus that have caused such damage. Well, people could think of so many things just to earn money at the expense of other people and damaging computers. I just pity the victims coz it would mean additional expenses.

Well when people have too much time on their hands..and do not work..they begin to create things to do. Thus viruses are attacking computers all around the world. I ran into an article on a message board that dated back to 2005 ..whereby it was stated that an Eastern Country would be the root cause of many computer viruses

Malware don't have any effect on hardware, only software.

I have not heard of the new virus but am not surprised since new viruses are always coming out and the creators are trying to make them worse and do more damage to computers. Another reason to switch to a Mac. I do have Windows XP so I do still need to worry about the virus you mentioned. You would think people would use their brains to make good and helpful things then to make peoples lives miserable.

Ken I agree with you; but some people have too much time on their hands and instead of doing something constructive; they use their time for destruction..This is going on world wide ..not just on the web..but in the form of wards and insurrections..Too many people just want to destroy..this is not why we were brought to life...Have a good day, Ken.:)

the virus disabled your antivirus? oh no that's bad news. I have a couple of antivirus and spyware or adware scan and cleaners in my PC. Then my provider also has a couple of their own downloaded to mine. I don't know the names.
so how did you get this blinking triangle in the first place? did you open an email and there it was?

I didnt open any email..I am very careful not to open any attachments from anyone not even family..I only open those that come as notices from work. It started happening after I downloaded the firefox browser!!!

I can't say emphatically that firefox isn't safe; only that when I downloaded it I ended up getting viruses, trojans etc.

I've not heard of this ...yet. you can get rid of the "Trend micro" program by using a tool called Regedit there are loads of different ones available so check on gooogle for the easiest to use one. Be warned though you can do some serious damage to your system with it, so if in doubt get a tech guy in to have a look!

Oh I should have stuck to my instincts since I had heard that the email had trojans and spyware but I heard so many people raving about it. No more. I use IE sometimes and another one most the time.

There are lots of these, usually called "hostile Trojans." They're not designed to ruin your computer, but to disable defenses so they may stay on your system for as long as possible. They're not as stealthy and sophisticated as rootkits, but they're still in the wild.
I suggest you run some scanners from safe mode with networking: Restart your computer. After Windows shuts down and your computer restarts, start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears. Press the up arrow key on your keyboard until “Safe Mode with Networking” is highlighted. Press “Enter.” Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the operating system you are trying to secure, then press “Enter” (unless you have multiple operating systems installed, there is only one).
Once in safe mode with networking, try downloading and running these scanners:

By the time you're done, there shouldn't be much left. Uninstall your security software, then reinstall it. If you want something stronger, there are some suggestions on my homepage: http://invincible-windows.blogspot.com/
Hope this helps!

By the way, if you want something EVEN stronger, you might want to follow the procedure in my lessons. Like I've mentioned in the last paragraph on the homepage, and even though I don't recommend this to most people, I have no antivirus or antispyware.

I guess someone should look up the preventative measures so your computer does not get infected; once it gets in..it's so hard to get rid of it.

although the Batangas for sharing information on. What you have told is something which is nothing very common. This means it is a very deadly virus and we should be aware of it. Nowadays such activities are improving and increasing day by day and South acting we should all she or experiences so that we can help others from that virus activity.

I am not sure I understood what you said here. I know though that virus activity has increased with the improvement of technology...wonder if its all a monopoly where makers of antivirus programs are producing these trojans and viruses to keep consumers buying their products?

I have no idea..I do know I use to have yahoo messenger..and no matter how many times I ignored a person..he came back ..unignored himself and kept harrassing me..So I knew my firewall and antivirus was not working 100 percent.
I downloaded several virus protections then uninstalled them as I tried different ones.. I think Trend Micro can be partially a problem since I tried their trial and when I try to delete the program it would not let me.

I do not know what antivirus you use, but the one I use is quite good, antivir. and it also warns you of trojans. I would like to know the name of the antivirus you use and also the names of other antiviruses that others use that this worm disables. I did have trojan once that took over my old machine. That was when I was using Windows Me. I was using Avast at that time, so I quit using it even though everyone said it was very popular.

I wont give out the name of my present antivirus..and avast was what was on my computer that crashed. Trend Micro..wouldn't let my computer delete it..so I will never go near it with this new computer. AVG was great..but somehow I thought you had to buy a new one to have good protection.. I was wrong.

Yes, I have experienced this horrible computer virus. Besides, it also doesn't allow me to find a solution via the search engine. Whenever I input "virus", the window will disappear. That's quite smart. Finally I use a less famous anti-virus software to kill this virus. As it blocks all the famous anti-virus software.

Wonderful..I think you are so smart..and be really smart not to put the name of your antivirus up online..I know for a fact there are hackers lerking on these sites.. On youtube there were videos of the hackers work.. I think mylot administration really needs to look into its scrutiny of posters and the security of the site. here.

Lots of new viruses and this one you are talking about is too smart. This should not only compromise your system security, this will also increase the holes for the other viruses to easily enter your system. Hope you get a better antivirus and clear it off soon.

Hi littlefranciscan! Oh that is terrible. I thought you were able to save your computer somehow. I think the virus keeps on getting more and more destructive. I hope these people will have some consciense on destroying other people's properties. Take care and have a nice day. :)

I think viruses are developed by anti virus companies and insert it in to our system unknowingly.

Well, I know on the computer that crashed I had downloaded the "trend micro" and no matter how hard I tried to get rid of this antivirus program: I could not. It absolutely would not let me take itself off my computer. So even now as I have my new computer and the old one sits waiting to be repaired. ..I wait for trend to disappear;)
