Making your own spagetii sauce or using the jar sauce? I always make my own sauce and today its time to make the sauce. I let it cook on low all day. I think Ive only eaten the jar sauce 2 times in my life. My whole family does it I guess thats the reason I do it now. Its so worth it because I make a big pot and freeze the rest in portioned containers. I also make the meatballs and through them in the pot of sauce too. So which is homemaid or jar?

I do use the jar stuff but I could never use it the way it is. I doctor it up with hamburger, mushrooms, tomatoe soup, and spices. I think it would be pretty terrible just using it the way it comes out of a jar.

Mmm..as much as I love to cook I guess I'm just a tad lazy about making homemade sauce...but will use the jar type and add a lot of stuff to it..I'll cut up extra tomatoes, onions, green peppers, garlic, add a bit of the vino (heheh)

I have always made my own until I found this great pasta sauce at ALDI's. I still add stuff to it but it is so good when I am finished. First I brown my meat and onions. Add them to the sauce with brown sugar, mushrooms and italian spices. I then let it simmer for about an hour and add some cheese. Yummy

I prefer making my own, but I don't always have the time or ingredients. It's somethign I really want to make more often, hopefully next year if my garden does well.

Not every one has the luxery of being able to afford the ingredients, specially when they are out of season and cost even more.

Hi TerryZ! I guess sometimes i do use the spaghetti sauce which is available in groceries when i am in a hurry or when the ingredients to make a homemade one is expensive. Prices here in our country fluctuates all the time. But i do prefer making my own. Take care and have a nice day. :)

Yes, i do agree that if i will make a whole pot, you can save that way..but i can only do that during the rainy days here because it will be rather cold. Usually food in the fridge get spoiled during hot and warm days here in my country. So i can't really stock food in the fridge unless i will really know how to properly preserve them. Take care and have a nice day. :)

Good Morning Terry, Since it's only me I just use the jar. With working and all I just don't have the time to cook, and I'm very easy to please, haha, so whatever is quick will work for me. I'd love to do that someday though, sounds so much more yummier!...mmmmm, wish I had some right this very moment, and I bet yours is scrumptous.

I do not live on a farm, and I also live in Winnipeg, Canada and if I were to grow tomatoes they would have to be in pots since I have hardly any garden space and myu husband will not let me grow a garden. Besides there is just two of us, as well as being only able to adopt two children, our relatives are scattered over Canada and there is no need for me to grow my own tomatoes, onions, etc. and make my own spaghetti sauce. Mind you, I would love to. It has only been in the last few years that we have been able to grow plum tomatoes (or as we call them in Canada, Roma tomatoes) because of global warming.

I dont have a farm either or a garden. And its just the two of us too. And I make my sauce once a month. Now if my husband told I couldnt do something then I would make sure I did it anyway. No one owns you. And I dont tell him what to do. You both have to compromise together.

I have never made my own spaghetti sauce. I've always purchased store bought. My taste in spaghetti sauce has gotten healthier though. I used to love Prego, but now I buy organic spaghetti sauce and it has very little sugar or sodium. But I don't even eat spaghetti very often. Although I do love it, but usually without meat. My mom can't understand how I could prefer meatless spaghetti over spaghetti with meat. : )

Hi Terry, I do both actually. I cook the meat, the veggies, and then add the jar of sauce to it. To me just a jar of sauce doesn't cut it! I'd love to try your home made sauce sometime though! Luv & Hugzz, PurpleTeddyBear.

Hello Terry, I like making my own sauce too. I'm not really a big fan of spaghetti to begin with but when I'm in the mood I'll make it from scratch. I don't let it cook all day though. lol I have used the jar kind, it's Ragu and it's the Sweet Tomato and Basil, I think. lol See been a long time since I used it! It's the only jar sauce that I will use. I like using all kinds of pasta not just spaghetti. If you still want to call that spaghetti. LOL Bay Lay Gray xx

I prefer homemade but rarely have a chance to make it anymore. I'm sure "people" would through a royal fit if I left something simmering on the stove all day...it would pobably run up the electric bill after all lol! I have never cared for meatballs so I don't do them but you just reminded me there's a nice slice of meatloaf left in the fridge...

I can't stnad tomato based pasta sauces, so I like to make my own creamy sauces at home. The kind that come in the jar can be a little too rich for me.

I use Hunts spaghetti sauce I have to cook my hamburger seperate from the sauce becasue my husband is really picky and hardly puts any sauce on his spaghetti so I have to cook everything seperately so he does not get to much sauce.
