My king and Savior Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day according to the biblical foretellings and writings. His coming to the world spelt salvation from the sins of the world, I am saved by the stripes of his blood, because he was destined to be born as man, to live among men, to teach men the holly ways of God, and finally to die for the sins of the world, you cant help but celebrate the birth of this miracle working Son of Man.

Christmas means the birth of our Saviour, Healer, Sanctifier and Comnig King to the earth, but not all people celebrate it, for example non- Chirstians or Athiest because they do not believe that Jesus existed here on Earth

Nativity - The first live nativity sets were said to be created by St. Francis of Assisi in the 12th century,
You have ask a very good question. The Romans celebrated Saturnalia, a festival honoring Saturn, the ancient Roman god of agriculture in December. Many god’s birth were celebrated at this time of the year. The Christians didn't celebrate Christ's birth until the 4th century. It was used to conciliate the heathen, and to swell the number of the nominal adherents of Christianity, the same festival was adopted by the Roman Church, giving it only the name of Christ". Many of the trappings are of pagan origins. You can learn more at http://www.simpletoremember.com/vitals/Christmas_TheRealStory.htm http://www.innvista.com/culture/religion/deities/chris25.htm
