Do You Ever Switch Certain Types of Foods At Different Mealtimes?

I think it's been kind of drummed into our heads that certain foods are "proper" for breakfast like cereal or scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc, while others, like soups, steaks, chicken, whatever are "proper" for dinner. But have you ever done a switch-a-roo?
For instance, for dinner tonight I decided to have a scrambled egg, a few strips of bacon and a really gigantic pancake dripping with lots of pure maple syrup...yum..now I'm stuffed. LOL You see normally for breakfast I don't eat that much and could never think of having a big breakfast like I just had for dinner instead.
So do you sometimes switch meals? Have a breakfast dinner, or have something for breakfast that you ordinarily would have for dinner?

My breakfast this morning was leftover cheese bread from Domino's. My lunch was a breakfast sandwich. So, yes. :P
Actually, in my home it's pretty often that we eat strange meals. My husband works nights and I work days, so it's never the same meal for both of us. So it's pretty often that we'll eat whatever happens to be around that's easy to fix, no matter what meal it's "normal" for.

I'm off the special diet. I was on it because the doctor believed I had Meniere's disease, but now they're thinking it's a neurological disorder instead. And the diet wasn't making my symptoms any better, so I guess it doesn't matter anymore. Which is good for me! :)

I never got to drummed into my head that certain foods were for only breakfast or dinner.I don't eat what you would call breakfast anyway, so if I wanted pancakes, I would have them for lunch. And if you want to have a steak and potatoes for breakfast, you should have it.

Oatmeal is better for you than potato chips. Why not have it as a snack? Especially in the winter.

In the past I would sometimes have a steak for breakfast...but I'm just not too much of a breakfast eater to begin with--and funny, can't stand to have something like oatmeal for breakfast, but love it as a late night snack..hehe

Oh yeah! We have breakfast quite often in our house.
We both love breakfast but rarely get the occasion to eat it. Even on weekends most of the time we don't.
But there will be weeks were we have it every other night or so LOL.
I just LOVE breakfast foods :)

I don't think I have the energy to eat a big breakfast...LOL. Kind of a slow riser here. So I can enjoy and appreciate a breakfast for dinner instead

I really eat anything at anytime. I have had pizza for breakfast many times, even as a kid. I make french toast or pancakes for dinner a couple times a month. We have a bowl of cereal at different times of the day. It really doesn't matter, it depends on what I have a taste for at the time.

Haha, I eat anything whenever I'm hungry...doesn't matter. I've switched many times and had a breakfast for dinner, or dinner for breakfast.
I especially love, like after Thanksgiving with leftovers, getting up and eating a whole Turkey dinner for breakfast. Or, at Easter time, having Ham, Pototo Salad, and Hardboil Eggs for breakfast...yummy. I'm such a piglet when it comes to food...people can't believe what I can put away for my size, it's really funny.
Makes absolutely no difference to me what I eat, or when I eat it, lol!.......I woke up the other night at 4:00am, and had a craving for Potato Chips. I tried really hard to go back to sleep, but oh nooooo, my little stomach just kept saying potato chips, potato chips, potato chips....so, I got up and ate some potato chips with hot chocolate. Whatever it wants, it gets, haha!...and I am not overweight in the least.

I tend to "pack" it in pretty good too and am thin..heehee..think my mother hated that in me..She could gain weight just looking at food, me, nope? She said my father's side of the family could eat a whole cow at every meal and not gain weight..guess I take after them..LOL
Heavens though, don't think I could have a whole turkey dinner for breakfast..well, maybe the stuffing..heeheee'

We do that about once a month. Everyone leaves at different times in the morning and I usually do not fix warm breakfasts. They enjoy the change once in a while.

Yep, sometimes I have eggs and potatoes for dinner.
Yesterday, I had a slice of pizza for breakfast.
I am not one for tradition on most things.
The best part is my family doesn't seem to mind one bit. Good thing, since I am the cook!

Heck, since I'm not normal anyways, why eat normal? I eat what I want, when I want. For me, pizza for breakfast just tastes better than eating it for lunch or dinner.

Some time ago my wife and I read that we (western sociaety I mean) had our eating habits the wrong way around for our metabolisms. Typically the smallest meal of the day is breakfast and our largest is dinner. The reason it is back to front is we are eating less when we need the most energy and eating most when we need the lest amount (unless you're a restless sleeper of course :) )
We tried switchingit round for a while, but it felt really weird eating steak and veges for breakfast and a peice of toast or rice bubbles at dinner time. Made it really difficult to go out for dinner as well. No one seemed to have toast on their dinner menu :)
We gave it a miss after about a week.

even though I'm skinny, I do eat. and when I eat I just eat what I want. I eat cereal and milk and toast for dinner, or just noodles for lunch or breakfast. basically anything I feel like eating. my husband always thinks this is strange, because toast and cereal are breakfast thing. dinner is like steak or meat and potatoes. I don't care as long as I eat something, and it's cooked well.

I don't do well in the morning. From middle school I would get sick in the mornings, and even the smell of artificial maple will still turn my stomach any time of day. So I became pretty against breakfast food, especially in the mornings! I do like pancakes now, but not generally first thing in the morning. I used to eat sandwichs for breakfast.

Maybe cause I'm not a rise and shiner, but a slow riser, I can do just toast for breakfast...oh and of course coffee..that's it though. So enjoy a real breakfast for dinner is fine by me--oh the maple syrup I had was pure and the real kind...not Aunt Jemima's LOL

Hiya Pye,
Yes we do that often around our house. Hubby usually never has time for breakfast getting up at 5am, so there are several nights he will stop at the store and bring home things to make breakfast for dinner. He loves pancakes and I love making them for him. It's really kind of cute how he asks me to make pancakes for him too. lol I can't turn him down!
I'm not really a breakfast kind of person, breakfast food or not. I usually don't get hungry until brunch time. Even if I've gotten up rather early. I'm just not hungry most times. If I am hungry that early, I'll eat whatever sounds good to me if its eggs and bacon then that's what I have. If it's leftovers from last night, that's what I have. I love a steak for breakfast with some hashbrowns. That's something else we eat more so at dinner time, hashbrowns. Hubby showed me to shred them and then add an egg with some seasoning, we fix those with just about anything. So good!
You've got me craving a pancake now! Oh and I've been known to fix pancakes at 10 o'clock at night. lol Just because I had a sweet tooth.

My grandfather used to often eat cornflakes, fried eggs, and a big purple onion that he would eat out of his hand like an apple for 'supper'.
I made a cherry pie yesterday so that's the only thing I ate today. Although I didn't eat it at anything like 'normal' mealtime hours. Just whenever I got hungry.

I don't eat at normal mealtime hours either. For instance when I had my Thanksgiving dinner I had it around 8 at night...In my great-grandmother's day, Thanksgiving dinner was around noon--yuk..can you imagine eating a dinner like that at noon?

Hehehe, no I can't! In fact my mother and I had a spat over that subject on Thanksgiving (which we celebrated on Saturday by the way).
My mother has always had Thanksgiving dinner at around 2PM. At 2PM my sister and I were still bustling about making a new sweet potato recipe and a new stuffing recipe. My mother was getting hysterical... literally freaking out over the fact that we weren't sitting down at the table at 2! Jeez!
