The inspiration for this discussion came from a fellow MyLotter who was asking about why people like to eat mushrooms when it's a fungus and in most circumstances non of us like fungus, say growing on our bathroom walls or if we have a fungal infection of any kind--Anyway I just had to do this discussion.
It's sweet, luscious, delicious. We use it instead of sugar, have it on pancakes, have some in tea add to desserts, make desserts out of it and it can come in a variety of flavors
Now for those of you who might not be aware of it...do you know what HONEY is?? That's right, bee puke. Now lets face it...regular "puke" is disgusting, smelly and no one in their right mind would think of eating "puke"...so why do we love honey...a bee's puke? Do you like honey, and were you aware that it was bee puke?

Thanks for sharing, pyewacket! No, I never knew that fascinating bit of trivia, but it won't affect the fact that I love honey. I have loved it since I was a little kid when my aunt made big homemade biscuits and she would spread butter on them and I could choose between a variety of jams, preserves, molasses, or honey. I often chose honey because it has a special light taste. I still use it in tea and some recipes.

Honey is at it's tastiest straight from the comb. I used to buy it in the store and bite right into the comb with honey oozing down my chin. Sticky as heck but ohhhhhhh so yummmmmmmmmmmy!!!

Lol, yes, I knew it was bee puke. And I know mushrooms are fungai...when you think of it, alot of foods us humans like should really be considered as gross lol, but they're not.
I love honey, it's one of the best substances in the world. No germs can live in it, it'll help you get over illnesses...
It's BETTER than sugar because it's not as potentially harmful as sugar is.
So...I just think Bee puke is awesome, lol.

Lmfao, perfect examples right there. Different cheeses. The process that goes into cheese period..
Butter is just milk that's gotten warm for awhile and the extra liquid drained off..really, a few extra additives, but you could turn milk that's started to go into it.
And people think that's how butter was discovered, by mistake like that lol.
Hotdogs ain't always made with meats that you'd consider yummy either. And as it is...processed meat is kinda gross in its own right.
But most of us love butter and hotdogs, lol.
I dunno. Lots of critters love to eat different things which are kinda gross but it's good for them and they think it's yummy...I think it's kinda cool we're no different ^_^

Yes I do like to eat honey on occasion. What about eggs? They come out of a bird's butt. Do you like to eat eggs? I will cook with eggs when I am making something like brownies or a cake. However I will not eat hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs or omelettes etc.

I never thought of it that way and I watch the Learning Channel and Discovery Tv, but if you want to keep people from using honey and eating sugar that is bad for you, that is the way to do it. I mean just think of all the things that we eat, that would make us sick if we translated them in human terms, sturgeon embryos, or calves intestines. Pretty soon, we would be limited in the amount we eat.
I still would like honey, to me puke has a horrible smell like when you vomit and only dogs eat theirs.

Calves intestines??? What's the other name for that? Oh, and how about tripe? That's cow's stomach isn't it?

Well, just as many animals regurgitate food for their young - birds for example - so do bees. Because young bees, the queen and during the parts of the year when there is no food, the bees have found a to store partially digested pollen. And if they didn't partially digest this pollen, other animals, and even the bees themselves wouldn't be able to fully digest it.
Ain't nature a wonderful thing?

Sure, of course.
You know dearie, I skipped this discussion yesterday because I had no idea what kind of food bee puke is and I don't want to just give a one word negative. :P
I didn't notice the BEE in bee puke. Though it is some foreign term.
Anyway yes, I do eat HONEY. More like drink it. When I have sore throats etc. I don't drink it regularly though since it is sugar nevertheless and it is a sure way to grow fat.

Hehe...thought I was talking about something exotic? To go with the exotic foods you mentioned in your discussion? Hey, maybe that wouldn't be a bad idea...Instead of chocolate covered ants, how about ants covered in bee puke? LOL

I did nt know this but it does not stop me from loving it. IT is a good rememdy for colds when lime juice is added. We use it to sweeten our tea whenever we have singing engagements. It is really soothing to t he throat and a clamer of babies when they refuse to sleep.

I have never liked honey. I had a babysitter who believed that peanut butter and honey sandwiches were the best lunch in the entire world. I would beg her not to put honey on my sandwich, which one would think might make things easier on her, but she insisted that I was treated like everyone else. That must have been 25 years ago and I'm still bitter!!! So at least now I can say that I don't like to eat puke no matter where it comes from!

Aww...I bet you'll still eat honey after this..I do.
Yes, I sometimes wonder who discovered what was good to eat eons ago and it was safe to eat? Must have been a lot of deaths of some ancient ancestor that ate something they shouldn't have cause it was poisonous

There are many examples of things like this we use that if we were aware of what was in them we probably wouldn't. Like women who spray them self with male deer secretions (musk), and spread lard on their lips (lipstick).
Honey is not such a bad one though, at least we know all bee's eat is nectar and pollen, you won't find any lumps of carrot or sweet corn in there. lol.
