I ahve never watched Mad TV but I love Saturday Night Live. I think it is hilarious. I have been watching SNL since junior high. I wonder how long Mad TV has been around?

mad TV is more recent, but not new. I think the reason SNL has lasted so long is that they are truly funny.

I would say Saturday night live. Although I don't think that either of them is as funny as they used to be. i used to really like mad tv, but in the last few seasons, it just doesn't seem to be as funny.

It always seemed to me that they wanted to be funny, but did not know how without being gross or sophomoric

I haven't watched either one much lately, but when I did watch regularly I would have to say Mad TV. They always seem to push the envelope and didn't mind being very controversial.

Is that the same as saying they were outrageous?

Wow, tough call. I think if you look at the scope of both shows over the years and include all the characters and cast members, then SNL wins hands down - but they have been on for a lot longer than Mad TV. SNL has birthed a lot of films too; Wayne's World, Coneheads, Superstar, Night At The Roxbury etc. Even so, Mad TV has Stuart ... "look what I can do!" and every time I see a skit with him in it, I am on the floor rolling.

I like your analysis. I think I would have to go with SNL, sometimes the MAD crowd goes too far over the top for me.

I definitely prefer Saturday Night Live. I've tried to watch Mad TV lots of times, but for some reason I can just never really get into it.

I have watched both; grew up on SNL as a matter of fact; I can still remember seeing Eddie Murphy hollering about the hot tub. I know I'm going back on that. But to me, SNL is not like it was, so I will have to say Mad TV.

I would definently say Mad TV. SNL has lost all of their good actors and the hilarious skits that those actors did. Although Mad TV will never be as good as old SNL, it is definently a lot funnier than the current SNL.

I like Saturday Night Live better, but they are both funny.
