one more time, trillanes and the magdalo, together with gen danilo lim and some civil society demonstrated a bold move to call for the resignation of the pres. arroyo, in today's manila peninsula stand off. after walking out from the hearing at makati rtc. the group of trillanes marched towards the hotel. the police and military gave a 3 hour ultimatum but trillanes and the rest didnt budge. Came the siege orchestrated by the goverment forces. subsequently, trillanes and his group with the help of live media coverage announced their surrender and that they will face whatever cases that will be filed against them. this came after realizing that lives may be lost in the process if they stood their ground, including the lives of media and civilians that might be caught in the crossfire. at nightfall, trillanes and all the media and civilians inside were arrested and brought to camps for detention and processing. They were tied by the hands and was put inside a police bus. this is another grand protest action with high risk of bloodshed. In my opinion, the day may have been a lost for the critiques of the president, but undeniably this is a sign that indeed something must be done to address this kind of actions. these are just symptoms of a malfunctioning government and a worsening problem in the philippine society. it is not just a dichotomy of administration and opposition or ally or enemy. but this must be taken as a whole and seen as a social dynamic that is cause by something deeper in the core of philippine society. Indeed it is political, however, we have to broaden our analysis and not just reducing it to just estrada vs arroyo type of conflict or admin and opposition. i dont think it is pure military adventurism, nor it is simply electioneering coz 2010 is kinda a little far. For me, in my honest opinion... there has been a fundamental division in morality and essence of government under the arroyo regime. i dont think three impeachments, three sieges and coup attempts are just mere show of force by opposition. The fact that it has been a continuous and inter connected actions. Then i would safely say, that there is something really really wrong with this administration. I dont think it is just about revenge or political interest. the mere fact that it has sustained this far, the unrest is due to the government itself and people running it. the controversies, the allegations of corruption and the persecution of critiques, sum it all together boils down to a malfunctioning government that lost its moral base and legitimacy. take note.. legitimacy not necessarily legality. the arroyo government may be the legal government because of the elections and failed impeachment, inshort because it is what the government declare it to be... LEGAL. however, as to legitimacy is concern, the mere fact majority of the senators that won in the last election are with the opposition... it is a clear indication that the people had put their sentiment in the ballots and not just street protest... the sacred ballot... expresses... a degree of discontent with PGMA and her people. PGMA cannot unify the Filipino people in this stage, thatz the whole point of legitimacy problem. Indeed she cannot please everybody however if she couldnt acheive the fundamentals of governing the philippines effectively because of the lost of trust of many sectors towards her... then her administration cannot give the best for all of us... best means a secure and stable government who can deliver clear results to its people. I dont want to be cited for inciting for rebellion or whatsoever. But this is my honest opinion after following almost all major events in our recent political history. I just dont want to be apathetic. Coz a country of apathetic people can never acheive national greatness. What do you think about all this?

What is so bold with that? They said they would not surrender but in the end they did just that. Aside from being cowards, they could hardly keep their word. Very unsoldierly and un-gentlemanly! Please take note that Trillanes is an elected senator on a court hearing and he showed blatant disrespect for his position by doing a totally unconstitutional act. You say that Trillanes and his group are willing to face up to the charges? Well, they were in court weren't they? And they walked out, so that means that they were not willing to face up to the PREVIOUS charges in the first place. Please do not distort the facts and mislead people. Do you know how much the economy is gaining and how much the economy will lose if things like these keep happening? Are you employed or not? Because if you have a decent job, you should understand how the economy works. I do not know where or how you got your education but i strongly believe that you are sick in the head for admiring the circus that this coward and retard put up. You must be a retard like him or maybe you are just that...UNEDUCATED. Good day and regards to your Trillanes the loser, coward and retard!
