What's the meanest thing a friend has ever done to you?

When I was in school, my very best friend and I were in the same grade. And, we hung out all the time. And,then one day she showed up with a new friend. And, they talked all the time and totally ignored me as if I weren't standing right there.
For awhile, I figured that this other person was just someone she'd met. Then after awhile, I realized that the new girl was her new best friend and she was trying to dump me as a best friend and hadn't gotten around to telling me yet. How rude! And, mean. We had so much in common.
It was sad seeing that friendship go. But, after a few weeks of putting up with the silent treatment, I got fed up with it and decided that it was time to move on. Later on, when we moved out of the area, she wrote letters to me. But, I didn't really miss her that much.
What's the meanest thing a friend has ever done to you? Has a good friend ever betrayed you?

The way your friend handled the situation was very juvenile. Why can't she have 2 best friends and treat both well?
I guess such incidents are very common during our younger days. We were immature in our way of handling friendships.
As for me, the meanest thing a friend has ever done to me was to ignore/avoid me after getting a loan from me. To date, I still have not gotten back my money and I do not intend to pursue it because I decided long time ago to give up this friend.
Once I asked a friend (another friend) why she had not contacted me for so long. Her answer was 'Because you are not of any use anymore'. Ouch.. That really hurt me. I felt so hurt after hearing that. =( That's the meanest thing a friend (another friend) has ever said to me.

It is very sad that your good friend would have only ever been leading you on just to get some free money. There are many disreputable people like that in the world. I try to be super careful these days when someone wants to be instant friends. I figure they are looking for a freebie, cash or discount on business services. One friend even got me to do some free work for her. Of course, there was always the implied idea that she would pay. And, I had no idea that I was doing the work for free. Just turned out that way. Considering that I don't give my business services away for free. But, she never paid. And, then later she boasted how well her business was doing (in part because of my help, that she never paid a dime for). And, we're not friends anymore. I don't like to be used either. Best of luck with your next friend. Maybe both of us will have better luck next time.

I feel betrayed by one of my best friends right now. We used to do everything together and were so close and all of a sudden, she doesn't talk to me anymore. Around the time that she stopped talking to me, she became heavily involved in her church and religion. She told me that that was her main focus now and she owed her life to god. I have not talked to her in 5 months and when I try to get a hold of her, she comes up with excuses or says she is busy with one church function or another. All she does is pray, read the bible, go to church and preach to everyone who will listen. I understand that maybe I should not be so hard on her because she is obviously brainwashed, but this is an insult to me. Here I am, a real living breathing person and once her best friend, and she just dumps me for god!!! I can't undertsand why she can't have both me and god in her life. I dont care what anyone says, no god is worthy of worship if he expects you to give up your friends to worship him. I have been so upset by this that I am even more turned off by religion than I was before LOL!!!

No god deosnt expect you to give up your social life and worship him,if anything he would want you to try and get your friend to join in:)... that is just her decision:P
If you really wanna be close mabey ask to do some church activity with her...i bet that will bring yall closer then ever:)

it's awful what friends can do to you.
I had a friend at school that pretended to have met my birth mother. When all along she and her dad had been lying. I know i should not have been so trusting about it, but i was only 13.It was bad at the time but i have moved on since then and found them myself.
I'm glad you have moved on i bet you feel quite good about it now.

Well, a few years ago, one of my best friends, and cousin, slept with my fiance - that's probably the worst thing any of my friends have ever done to me, but, in a way, she sort of did me a favour, too - now I'm much more careful about who I hang around with - and who I get engaged to, for that matter.

well i don't know about friends, but my brother started a new job and had to go across state line, he came to me and asked if he could borrow my car that i just bought. i was trying to be nice so i let him. when he made it to his location, he called me and said that everything was fine. A little later that day he called me back and said that he was about half way back and the car quit running. well come to find out he blow the engine up. he then left the car there and said that he would get it home for me and rebuild the car. WELL he never did and then he said that he would pay for the car. Guess what! he never did. so i was out a car and he didn't care. so now i wont let him borrow anything any more.

I had this friend in college whom i thought was a good girl. She's pretty, intelligent and a leader. She was like a big sister to me. I never thought that of allpeople, she'll be the one who'll stab me at the back and say hurtful things against me. I actually confided this situation to a common friend and the common friend told her my concerns. You know what? She denied everything! She could have just admitted the truth and say sorry! I super hate her now. Grrr..
