This is a question I've been wandering since I was in high school. I've asked many people but all of them can't really answer this question with a convincing explanation. Some say that we can never tell which comes first.

I have two answers and they support each other. 1. Scientifically, the chicken comes first because the egg cannot hatch by itself according to the procedure of how the egg opens. It must be under the warm embrace of the mother hen for some days before it can become a chicken.
2. Biblically, the chicken is created by God first. A male and a female as accounted in creation. The two produce their kind through the egg in which the mother hen embrace under her until the chicks are mature to get out of its shell. The mother hen hears the sound inside the egg, strike the shell and the live chick comes out!
