Experience on Food Allergy

It's still so vivid on my mind. We ate at a nearby resort with colleagues..we ordered local and exotic sea foods of varied types. Of course, I over ate. After a day, I started to itch...had hardness of breathing...and my body seemed to swell and was red all over...it was terrible. I was rushed to the hospital where the doctor gave me shots for food allergy. Because my fingers were really swollen, the doctor had to cut-saw my wedding ring as it got stuck on my finger. I even had difficulty breathing! From that time on, I swear that I will never experiment eating sea foods which are the rare ones--big lobsters, rare species of fish, etc. In a matter of four days, I was responding well to the medications, but I learned a hard lesson: I am allergic to seafoods when taken in large quantities. Today, I just eat very little of shrimps, etc. Anyone who has experienced food allergies? Please share...Fellow mylotters would surely learn from you...

i think the lobster did it... did you also have some crabs?? they're all high in cholesterol and would really cause some allergy when taken in large quantities... i have one uncle who got an attack of high blood just a few minutes after eating crabs cooked in coconut milk :-)

Hello!
It's nice to hear that you're doing okay now. Good thing that you rushed into the hospital and had medical attention before it gotten worst. Allergies can be deadly when not treated properly and immediately, we had a case like that at the hospital where I worked before, the patient didn't know she was allergic to the certain food like you, she was actually put in the ICU for observation. Well, at least now you know that you're allergic to seafoods when taken in large amount, so next time...give some and share..lol! okay. *wink wink* Get well soon. Take care. *smile*
