How much personal space do you require?

Since I have lived in a number of different cultures and countries, I've noticed that people don't have the same concepts of personal space. In one place, it seemed folks had about -2 cm personal space! Where I grew up, the people like to have about one meter of personal space.
How much personal space do you like? Does it affect any aspect of your life such as what sport you are willing to play (wrestling or soccer)? Does it affect how you relate to your husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend?

This one is really gonna be interesting to answer!
As I was growing up, we were a large family, so we were limited on personal space! This didn't bother me, I was used to it!
In the military, we had somewhat a limited space, because we were all housed together! This didn't bother me, I got used to it!
When I was driving over-the-road trucks, I was always single driver! One time we were asked to make a load from California, to New Jersey, as team drivers, which means, two drivers were in the truck all the time! ONe driving, one sleeping! We didn't have any trouble, and the other driver and I got along well, and we made good money, and completed our task, but that is when I decided, that I could not function like that all the time! I had to have my personal space! There is just something about the road for me, that makes me desire my personal freedom, above all else!
But it's never affected any sports that I have played, I could play team sports, or single competition sports just as easy!
When I was married, it never had any bearing on my relationship, I always enjoyed being cuddled!

I'm so glad you had fun with that one! It was fun for me to read your answer!
I think you have a point there concerning how personal space can change over time. I think mine has. It must have been such an interesting life being a trucker, and possibly boring sometimes. I would never be able to do something like that because I can't even back our car out of our driveway without almost running into a tree!
I'm glad you enjoy being cuddled. I used to, but now that my body is so painful, it actually hurts to "cuddle." But my husband doesn't mind. He's a bit standoffish anyway, at least compared to when we were dating back in the old days :)
Glad you enjoyed the topic. I hope more people weigh in on this one. I'm interested to hear everyone's stories! Thanks, friend! :)
