Prolong clothing life

Set from the thrift store - This is a set I bought from the thrift store. Once I washed it in tide it was like new. It was perfect for my grandson.

I absolutely love Tide. If you are interestedd in prolonging the life of your kid's clothes I highly reccomend tide. The othe thing I do to prolong the life of my son's clothes is to wash everything, except for the undies, in cold water. I also turn just about everything in side out. I have not found it necessary to put any of the regular items on the delicate cycle. I avoid putting those items into the dryer. I hang everything to dry. Our clothes seem to last forever and keep their color. I am able to sell my sone outgrown clothes on Ebay when he outgrows them because they are in such great condition. I even use tide to restore the clothes I get from thrift stores. It is great!

I wash everything but the whites in cold water also. Turning clothes inside out really helps too. I hang all of our laundry on the clothesline. Turning them inside out keeps the sun from bleaching out the colors too. I dont usually use Tide though because it is so expensive.

I used to think Tide was really expensive too but, I found that if I stock up on it when it is on sale and when I have coupons I get great deals on it. I wish I could hang the clothes outside. The doctor suggested I don't do that because both my son and I have severe allergies and the elements from outside would settle on the clothes. I love that fresh air smell though and miss putting them out.

Oh my, you do go to a lot of trouble to keep them long lasting. I couldn't be bothered with all that work. If it wears out, I throw it away. But if it's just the color fading I just dye it. It is very easy to dye clothes today, because they have come out with better dyes and can be done right in the washing machine. I usually use tide, too, but sometimes I will use cheer, if it's on sale. I always wash all my clothes, except whites, in cold water. It gets clothes just as clean, so why use hot water that you have to pay for.

I wash all my clothes in cold water except the whites. I use hot water on them. Another thing that I found that really helped was a HE front loading washer. We took our tax money a couple years ago and purchased the washer at sears. It was expensive but it paid for itself the first year. It does not take as much water, electric or washing powder. I have not got any little balls on our clothes since I started using it.
