I have a son that is going to turn 3 in March. Now we have tried potty training him for months now and he has not interested in it. I could have him sitting on the potty for 10 minutes and nothing. Then right when I put his diaper on he will go. Does anyone have any sugguestions that might help? I would like to get him out of diapers as soon as possible. I also was a 5 month old and the cost is just killing us.

Now, I am sure that you have heard it a million times, but your son will be potty trained when he is ready. My son turned three in October. I started talking with him about the potty when he turned 2. Sometimes, very rarely he went pee in the potty. However, I wasn't working with him full time, it was just a conversation we had occasionally. However, once we got closer to his 3rd birthday, I really started to work with him. He got really good with peeing, but never once did he go poops. He had a bunch of accidents and I didn't want to take him out of diapers. Then I started it where I would ask him if he wanted to wear undies instead of diapers (I don't really believe in potty training pants, I think they are more confusing, just easier on cleaning). He was very interested in wearing big boy undies. Yes, I had a LOT, I mean a LOT of bad undies to change, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right!!! But, he would not go poops at all. Then one night, I decided to start him a chart one for pee and one for poo. He got to put a sticker on for each time he did it and the 10th one he got a prize (He loves stickers). However, because he was now a lot better at peeing, pee prizes were small and poops were big. Still, would not go poops. Then one day he went pee and just the littlest poop came out. I got extremely excited and showed him that I was happy and made a BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!!! I thought maybe just maybe that was the start of it - NOPE!
About a week later, I am in my basement making wreaths and he comes up to the steps and says Ma I pooped. and I said in your pants. He replied, NOPE ON THE TOILET with the BIGGEST smile on his face. Did I make a huge deal out of it??? YOU BET, I let him call all my family to tell them which then they made a big deal out of it.. Since then, no problems at all. So, he will get it, just try your best to ask him during the day if he has to go, though, that didn't work for me...... He'll get it.... Good luck!!!! :)
