I have been smoking about three years now. I have let it control my life, smoking is my stress reliever, my driving buddy, something to do when i'm bored, and my dessert after a meal. It's sick to even admit that. I just would like some support, some advice on how to stop, and what i should do if i have the sudden urge to go buy a pack, or take a drag from a friend. Any help, is better than nothing. Basically i need a support system, I would ask my spouse, but he has no intentions on quitting.

Well good for you for wanting to. I think it is double hard when your spouse smokes. Because it will always be around. Im trying like crazy to stop after about 13 yrs. I keep craving one. For now I am dening the craving. I hope I dont gain weight. Tomorrow will hard because my job is stressful and smoking is a much needed break there & all my work buddies smoke.

Just put them down! Go get gum. Go for a walk. Talk on the phone. Clean your house. When stressed scream! Sing! Exercise! Get on mylot and chat. Do whatever it takes. I am a former smoker. My dad has emphysema and my best friend was just diagnosed at 33 as well. My dad is still smoking. wakes up coughing wheezing and reaching for a cig. Neither of them get enough air. Walking into my best friends hospital room seeing her hookes up to machines and oxygen hoses. It's been months and I still get angry. Don't let illness be your wake up call. Sorry if this sounds like a sermon. It's just this is my hot button. I've taught my daughter to say smoking is yucky in the hopes that when she reaches the age to she won't. Good Luck
