the larger question i feel is whether they need a coach or not. if they know how to play then what is a coach supposed to do

Hello, Mandeep! no,gary was one of the best players of the world.was not gavasker/kapildev/amarnath/srikant/or viswanath.give them chance to prove their worth.why running after foreign coach, why not our own?in the past what they did for our players.if possible find out a coach and not player-coach who has no previous experience.the present trio doing quite well.wait and see how far they can take india.what do you say?thank you and good luck to team india.

let's face the fact he has never been a cause of any team so I think it is very unfair to comment right now about him. He is a very great player he played wonderful cricket when he was in the South African team and from that we can be sure of one thing that he does not lack the knowledge but coaching the team is something different than playing a match. So if he knows the difference and he and his accordingly when we never know we may get a good coach but then angled them and we had to wait it is too early to comment on someone with the calibre of such greatness. He has scored so many runs which itself says that he has great knowledge about the game.

I am not so sure about this. Gary Kirsten was a tenacious player at best and maybe can contribute to the match strategies and the planning. But he has no prior coaching experience and it is still to be seen how the players react to him. I thought Rajput had done a great job till date and should have been allowed to continue. If we ourselves don't groom Indian managers who else can!! We will end up in the same situation soon as the England Football team where in there are no English people willing to take charge!! Cheers! Gary was a wonderful player. No doubt. But he does not have any coaching experience. He can be assured of getting the world-calss coaching experience by being with Team India.
