Sitting Pretty - The movie I watched this morning - What would you do?

I'm not sure what channel it was on.
Usually these movies are on a channel that has the word "classic" in it.
Tuner Classic Movies - something like that.
The name of the movie was "Sitting Pretty"
It was made in 1948.
It was about a family who hired a babysitter.
He came across as more of a butler.
His name was Mr. Belvedere.
I think this must be where the show Family Affair came from?
I believe there was a Mr. Belvedere character in that show too.
Anyway, it was a cute movie.
It covered a lot of issues that we deal with in every day life.
Stereo types - They assumed the babysitter was going to be female and were taken by suprise, when he showed up. His name was "Lynn Belvedere"
Gossip - The husband went out of town on a business trip and gossip started to fly through there community, sparked by a nosy neighbor.
Of course the situations were innocent and then misenterpretted by neighbors and twisted as the story went through the grapevine.
It hit close to home for me because I've always been aware of the harm that gossip can cause.
I recently replied to a discussion in which a young girl was becoming the victim of gossip.
I have a teen and I worry that this will happen to her.
In the end of the movie, as in every good story, there was some poetic justice. Probably literally.
It turned out the butler/babysitter was a writer.
He wrote a novel based on his experiences in that small town. It became a national best seller.
It had a great end.
Have you ever wished you could write a novel about your life experiences?
If you could, what part of your life would you write about?

Oh, this sounds like a good movie!
Was it a true story?
I do remember the name Mr. Belvedere, but I can't remember seeing all of it!
I, also like these types of movies!
You know as much typing as we do on here, and discussing things, we could probably write two or three books!

It didn't say that it was based on a true story, but I think a lot of fiction is loosely based on somebody's life.

Mr. French was on "Family Affair." "Mr. Belvedere" was a sitcom on in the 80s where a proper English butler goes to live with a middle class american family with 2 teenagers and a younger kid. A lot of the plots revolved around the kids getting advice from an unlikely source (Mr. B) and also the culture clash between a stuffy butler and regular kids. He used to write in a journal at the end of every episode and talk about the lessons the family learned or whatever transpired.
Sometimes I have written things down and then think "eh, too boring." LOL

Thank you for refreshing my memory!
I was trying to remember and my first thought was "wasn't there a show called Mr. Beleveder?"
But I couldn't picture the characters in my head.
Still can't.
So I guess I just put the two shoes togeter and came up with Mr. Belvedere being Mr french.
You're right there have been a few shoes with that concept.
That might make another good discussion!
Thanks for your response.

If I wrote about my life experiences I think it would be based on the famous novel War and Peace! Or Shakespeares Tragedies LOL! I have written journals from long ago so I could easily write a film based on them, but to be honest I'd rather burn my journals and forget my past life, after coming out of a 4.5 year abusive relationship my film would be depressing enough for me, you can imagine it would put people off! Hardly flocking to see a film about heartache! So I'll leave it to those who have a more interesting life to write about!

I personally wouldn't like to write anything about my life, because it's been sooooo boring! LOL
But in regards to the movie, i've seen it and it's a great movie. I loved how they stereotyped and how it all turned out at the end. If nothing else, the movie sure sent a message out - NEVER stereotype.

It seems interesting to watch. If I am going to write my life story it will start with a heavy one and then go smoothly and as is passes for the ending I don't know yet.

Hi mamilady! I used to watch a tv sitcom before, Mr. Belvedere and it was a nice program. With regards to your question, I think if i have the talent of being a writer or a novelist and i could have the opportunity to write about my life experiences, I think i will dwell on the part of growing up and all the trials and lessons learned until i got married. The process of life i have gone through will somehow give my readers some inspiration and motivation on how they can move on even if pain and failures are so overwhelming. Take care and have a nice day.

That sounds like a pretty good movie. If I wrote a novel about my life experiences I'm sure I could write several of them. Sometimes I swear I could make a soap opera out of my life. Some people in my family cause so much drama it just gets on my nerves and I don't even want to be around them because I just like a laid back no worries kind of life. We actually have some stupid stuff going on with a few people in my family right now (they are just acting dumb and they are telling lies about other family members for no reason and just a bunch of other dumb stuff but I won't go into detail cause I'd be here all day LOL). I've never wanted to write a novel about my life experiences but I know I could write several of them if I did. LOL
