Hi Mrs. Frizzle,
As far as I know Succotash always had Lima beans. The classic recipe consists of Lima beans and corn. I have looked into some recipes though and noticed that in some States it is made with green beans. I live in Canada and we don't eat it much. I guess it is more a Pennsylvania Dutch dish, although I may be mistaken.
