I personally don't think it's great at all, in fact I dang well hate the place. Don't get me wrong, I tried it and with the PC i have it ran pretty smoothly but when you start your immediatley faced with a stupid island telling you that you have to do a load of stuff that you arent sure how to do and leaves you feeling bewildered.
Apart from the game itself though, I have issue with Second Life because it has sucked my friend in something rotten. She used to play on a different site with me non stop and we had a great time and it never got in the way of real life at all.
Now all she does is play that damned game and it's very rare that I can even get her attention on MSN.
If you have time and money to waste then go ahead and play it but if you like your cash and you have better things to do with your time, don't bother.

Second life is plain bad....The graphics isn't that great and you need to exchange real money to their online currency (Linden dollars I think) in order to buy land etc...
Its a waste of time and money if you asked me....I rather play The Sims online...at least the graphics look more appealing

years I have heard a second life and even I have tried it but let me tell you it was very pouring performing and I did not find any kind of interest in it so I decided to quit warnedfrom it because and I don't buy anything and you won't want to do it and it is a policy with anything about people do have. Anyways I have better options and instead of second live in.

What's interesting about Second Life is that you can make it into what you want it to be. A lot of people are really making money from it and real life businesses or brands have entered it. I blog about it at www.kabalyero.com if anyone is interested to visit.

heh I know this is a while ago but I thought since I play Second Life, and happen to enjoy it that I should put my 2 cents worth in on this month old discussion ^^.
Second life can be very addicting... like ANYTHING else. Honestly, if you have any control of your own life. Like if you have the will to say, "oh well Im gonna go out to see some friends or family" playing any other game, then you can do it with Second Life as well.
Some people treat Second life as a literal second life. sad really, but its their own choice. I find that a lot of people there treat it like match.com. Which is fine for them I guess... its free. ^^
Some people treat it like a game, which it is. It's a mmorpg, massively multiplayer online roleplaying game... and I, myself treat it that way. Yes, I'm addicted... but all in all, It's easy for me to step away from it to attend Real life. Which anyone that has something to look forward to in life... would be the same way I suppose. I find a lot of people that aren't happy with themselves or their lives tend to let it suck them in because they can be whoever they want to be... and do... or say... even look a certain way and be happy. Like I said... its sad, but totally honest.
Its not bad... the graphics are fine I think. Especially with the Windlight Viewer. If you have a good graphics card as well, lol it helps.
But the things you can do is unlimited... you can either be on Second life for complete fun, or you can make a business in Second life. Well known companies are in Second Life, Like Sony and Addidas, ect.. Even colleges have a college within Second life... people find it easier to train their employees across the world within Second life too. It's not a completely horrible game. LOTS of games are made to make you sit down and enjoy it ya know. It's called entertainment. Even authors make you want to sit down and finish the book, ya know. It's all in how you look at things.
But yea, if you think you could enjoy the game I dont see why not try it out. And it is free... and you dont have to buy Linden dollars at the site just to have ingame currency. There are ways to earn money in game. :P So the only thing you waste is time, which if that's the case... what would you have been doing with that time?
