This past week I attended a supervisor development course seminar/workshop, so I was not into myLot. The seminar was held in a hotel in a nearby city. It was a live-in (inside hotel) seminar and what we did was just listen, participate in the discussion/ workshop, then eat and sleep. It was fun interacting with the speakers and fellow participants to the seminar coz we had some games and "learning by doing" activities. I was a bit relax coz i didn't report to office work for one week and I was not at home doing house chores. I was lucky to be one of those selected to attend the seminar coz the expenses (hotel accomodation, food and training/seminar) was paid by our company.
Moreover, the seminar was a lot of help to me, in improving myself as a person and as a career woman. It gave me a lot of ideas on how to become an effective supervisor, as well as how to be an affective person.
What about you, have you attended any development course / seminar/ training? What kind, when and how was it?

I am a member of social service club and we do get eminent speakers from various walks of life and I used to arrange for seminar and conferences once in 3 months. Most of these are development oriented, helps the participants t acquire latest information in the field of social work, personality development and also in motivation etc.
These courses are meant for young people and always runs with full attendance.

I've never attended a seminar like you discribed but sounds wonderful and like something I would benifit from - I would like to grow as a career woman and often those around me don't encourage that.

I have attended to a number of seminars, all one day's. These are extremely good to keep you current in what you do. I mean by attending these, you get to know the current developments and learn to think differently and change your attitudes and systems. I look after the training and development of the people in my Company and we have a 500,000 budget per year for external training only cos this is extremely important for the Company as well as the individual.

Most such occasions are usually crappy. One can easily fall asleep if one does not try hard enough to keep awake.
The things taught are likely not new too.
So if you have a choice, only attend those you are sure will benefit you and won't be a waste of time. :)

Yes, In the past I attended several seminars because I was a support specialist working for the Brain Injury Association of Florida. The seminar consisted of meeting professionals who could provide us and train us regarding the different types of resources available for the disable community in South Florida.
