Vaccinating Your Pets

Just wanted to know how you all feel about vaccinating your pets. I know I always mention the fact that I work as a tech in an animal hospital, and that it's probably getting annoying LOL, but I think it's important so that I don't just sound like a big blubbering idiot! I'm only curious because working there, I know how "silly" some of them are, and that most vaccinations are not necessary, at least in the areas where the majority of people live around here. Some of them can even be dangerous for pets, and they can also be dangerous if you give numerous vaccines in one visit. We're forced to give some of them, but even we sit there and wonder if it's just the government scamming us. Like, take rabies for example...I'm sure all of you get a 1 year Rabies vaccine for your dogs, at least, and have been offered, if not gotten, the "new" 3 year version of the vaccine. Well, guess what? It's the EXACT same shot! We take it out of the same exact vial as the 1 year shot, and administer it the same way. It's just "approved" by the state to "last" for 3 years, just because it costs more money! Technically speaking, the 1 year vaccine WILL last for up to 2-3 years, so they're just scamming you! Now I hear that they're trying to sell a 3 year Distemper shot, too! Sometimes I feel bad, but I was wondering what you guys do about shots for your pets. Personally, I don't vaccinate any of my animals, unless it's for one of the dogs to get into a class or go to the dog park.
