What Would You Do?

Here's my story. I'll try and get right to the point. LOL...my ex-boyfriend is currently going to court for the starvation deaths of 5 dogs, probation violation, false info on court documents, not completing community service, and failure to complete 3 court ordered psych. evaluations, among other things. It makes me sick to think about what he did, and he has no idea how lucky he is that the police found him before I did! Anyway, he lies about EVERYTHING, down to where and if he's working, how to spell his name, and what time he got up in the morning! He can't tell the truth about anything, and he is scum. I honestly believe that he's crazy, and a danger to those around him. I have a restraining order against him because he blames me for everything he did, for some reason, and we all know that most murderers and serial killers started out hurting animals. I recently informed a few of the girls he hangs out with on a daily basis at bars of what he did and what's going on, and they were hoffified and disgusted. They're no longer friends with him, and as much as I would like to say I'm happy that he has no friends now, I really did it because I don't feel like they would be safe around him. Especially if he's drunk at a bar at 4a.m.! He'd never spoken a word about any of this to them, and they were really mad at him about it. Was it wrong of me to tell them, even if it's for their safety? Yes, I find joy in "ruining his life" for killing innocent animals, listening to them cry every night for food as they slowly died...and then to live with the decomposing bodies?!...but I really don't think people, especially girls, should be around him. Is what I did OK?

You know in the same situation I would have probably done the same thing. It is wrong to hurt a innocent animal. They have to rely on you for everything and it really isnt that hard to feed them. I am with you on this!

I know! It doesn't sound that difficult to sane people like us, but he's obviously crazy! He actually had nine, and I finally was able to get those away from him, and then he got 4 more!!! I moved out of state, and found out about their deaths when I got back and wanted to kill him. He has NO IDEA how lucky he is that the cops found him before I did!!! Thanks so much for your post, thanks to you guys I don't feel guilty at all about telling the girls!!

don't feel guilty for warning people about him. I never think for one second that an animal abuser will not abuse human being, and all those other things he did?
the only friends he can get are the ones that would do the same he did. If I were you and had the money, I would do more than just warn his friends and get a restraining order.

I actually thought about getting one, but he never really tries to contact me in any way now, so I'm not sure if they would allow me to get one or not. I honestly don't feel like I need one, but I guess its a good thing to have. Thanks for your post, and I agree with you. It unfortunately usually only begins with animals, then moves to humans.

Motive is everything. If you are sure in your heart that you warned these girls because you feared for their safety that is one thing. If you did this for revenge on him or because you felt he needed to be punished further, then that is not okay.
As far as your relationship with him is concerned, I would sever all ties with him. You don't need to be seeing anyone at this point. You need to work on you. I am at this point in my life right now. I kept attracting people to me who were not healthy. I had to sit down and be honest with myself. I was drawing unhealthy people to me, because I was unhealthy. At some point, we have to stop blaming the other person and look at ourselves.

I'm 90% sure!! I honestly do feel bad for them, because they all really liked him as a friend. But as I've found out now from them, he's been lying to them about absolutely everything, just like he did to me. Yes, a part of me is doing it for revenge, but the majority of me is doing it out of concern for them. They're 3 single girls, and they have no place being in dark bar parking lots with a drunken psychopath at 4am! They all have said they won't see him anymore, and are now bringing guy friends with them, so I feel a lot better about it. Thanks for your post!

I love the way you keep saying lucky the cops found him before you did! and i agree 100% i would have shot him in the head without a second thought too. I somehow can not stand cruelty to animals and kids. And people who harm animals ALWAYS turn out to be psychopaths if they are not considered one already! You did the right thing. Those girls i am sure are thanking their lucky stars that they got know about him from you. So please stop feeling guilty. And if you feel you are being revengeful - yes please those dogs need to be revenged. Imagine poor animals who depend on us for a simple thing as food being left to die.......gosh i WILL kill this guy

Of course you did the right thing! This man is in obvious need of psychological help and since he seems dangerous you could have saved the lives of those girls. My question is why is such a sick man still on the streets and obviously not under a doctor or psychiatrist care? If I had a picture of him I would put up posters saying Beware of this man! It's unfortunate that he can't be caught and put away since he is in so much trouble with the law.

And that's a good question! He's actually been ordered 3 times now, by the court, to go in for psychological evaluations, and he refuses to go. They keep arresting him, and he keeps coming up with excuses! He actually has a court date on the 5th because they added more charges, bringing it up to 12 felony charges, and then we go back in January to see what happens. I really think he's looking at jail time. Last time I checked, you can't even use the "insanity plea" here in Illinois anymore, thank god!
